We arrived in Rome last night around 9:00 and headed straight for our hostel "Freestyle". This hostel isn't an official one, and you can tell the difference. It is just as clean and safe feeling, but it is more like a party than a sleeping room. The owner was real laid back and was just hanging out with everyone else. The best part is free breakfast and free dinner!!! Not too shabby.
Today we did the northern part of Rome. We visited a Etruscan Museum and saw a bunch of pottery and stuff. Then we continued to the Piazza de Popoli, which is absolutely huge and has an obelisk in the middle. From there we went to Piazza de Spagne to see the Spanish Steps, I didn't find them to incredibly interesting, just a bunch of steps.
From there we walked down a street lined with stores I couldn't even dream (or want) to afford. Prada, Gucci, Armani, Prada, etc. The all had "bouncers" watching the doors. After feeling poor, we went to the Trevi Fountain. IMPRESSIVE! It was just huge! It made me want to swim really bad!
We headed back toward the train station and decided
to be stupid Americans and had McDonalds ice cream. Now we are in Splashnet, where we might actually do laundry eventually!
We are in Rome for a couple of more days, then we are taking a night train to Milan (cheaper than a fast train and a hostel room).
