Edit Blog Post
Hello. Ok i got some time now to write my blog. So first off we (Josh Bek & i) went from Sydney to Hong Kong. The flight was good, we had tvs in the back of the seats with heaps of movies, tv shows, games & cds. We got off in Hong Kong and it was pretty hot and humid, not what we were used to. We were going to stay in the hotel but it was very expensive so we decided we'd just sleep in the airport. So we had to sleep on plastic chairs which wasn't the greatest. Their money is wierd, it cost like $100 for a burger king meal. The next morning we had to fly to Helsinki. This flight wasn't so good. There were no tvs on this plane and it was very hot. So after three days and one night (time difference) we finally landed in Rome very tired sore and cranky. And to top it off, Josh's bag got left in Helsinki! We had to come back the next day to get it. So we got a taxi to our hotel and it was very scary cause the driving here is crazy. They go
very fast (our cabbie was going 140 k/ph) and its like there are no rules. There are lines on the road but they just go where ever they can fit. Also they drive on the other side of the road so whenever i cross the road i keep looking the wrong way out of habbit and almost get run over. There are about 30 people on our tour, only about half are Aussies the rest are mostly Americans. Josh found another aussie guy and one irish guy who he likes to hang out with and drink. Rome was nice, lucky most people can speak english there. We(the group) went on a few tours and saw the colosseum, sistene chapel, the spanish steps & the revi fountin, all very cool. We went to a realy nice italian resturant and had a four course meal while italian people sang to us. Then everyone went out that night but i was too tired so i went to bed, later got woken up by everyone at 3am drunk. All you eat in Rome is pizza, pasta & gelato. Every second shop is gelato and you can buy beer there, so you can just grab a beer and wonder the streets having a beer, Josh liked this. In the city it is very nice and good night life but the are people everywhere getting in your face trying to sell you stuff, its very annoying. After Rome we went to Florance. On the way to Florance we stopped at a small place called Toscana. The whole town was like one big castle, very beautiful. But i didn't like the toilets there. It was like a whole in the ground. It flushed and stuff but it was a bit akward trying to aim. It is polite to tip the toilet attendent here if there is one, some toilets you have to pay for the toilet paper. After Toscana we got off at Florance. Here we saw how leather was made and we seen the micealangalo statue. I got to go shopping too. There were little markets everywhere. We went to a pub for a couple drinks, it was a pub for contiki tours so it was all english speaking which was good. Another night we all went to a night club which was also for contiki tours. This club was great, the bar was a very big fish tank which looked very cool. Then upstairs was a big dance floor. We all got very drunk cause the drinks they pour here are twice as strong as australian drinks. The next day we left Florance all very hungover. We stopped at Pisa so we could have a look at the leaning tower of Pisa. It was cool but we were all hungover so we just lazed around on the grass for an hour. Then we got back on the bus and went to Portovenere. This place was beautiful. We got to swim in the ocean which was like a rocky beach with no waves. We stepped into the ocean and it only takes about 5 steps to get very deep. The water was very blue and clear. We stayed there one night and went to Nice(France) which is were i am now. Its alot harder here cause no one speaks english and i don't know what they are saying to me. I have to point at what i want and hope they understand. I,m at the internet cafe right now and the whole computer is in french, i,m only getting through by memory of where things are on computers. I,m having a little difficulty with this keyboard, some of the letters are in diffrent spots. So thats what i've been doing this last week. Hopefully it won't be too long until i write again. I miss you all. xoxoxox
