We landed in Singapore and took a taxi to Raffles Hotel. We pulled up to the hotel and we were speechless. The hotel was magnificent. A man dressed up in a white military looking uniform with a turban opened our door and took care of our luggage. We walked up the red carpet to the main entrance. We were greeted by another gentleman and after giving him our name we were whisked away to our suite. The hotel is all white with wood floors and dark wood trim. We walked by courtyards that are filled with palm trees and beautiful plants. Our room number was 111 and when we walked in our jaws hit the floor. Check-in was done in our dining area of our suite. We were then promptly greeting by our butler Charlene. Now, Mark and I have never had a butler before and had no clue what to do. She asked if we wanted a bottle of Champagne and so we said sure, after she left we were wondering how much it would be, but it was free. Man the rich have it good! The bedroom part has two huge queen beds and dark

wood floors continue from the living area. The suite has 12-15 foot ceilings throughout. The bathroom is in old style Marble and tile. Our suite was amazing but it was the standard suite so I can’t imagine what the Presidential suite and the step up ones would be like. I don’t ever want to leave.
It was about 8:30pm and we decided to shower and then change and go to the Long Bar for some drinks. I looked everywhere but couldn’t find the iron and my dress was so wrinkled from the suitcase. There is a button that is in our living room area that connects to a pager our butler carries. So we asked her where the iron was and she took the dress away to get it pressed. (They don’t have irons in the room because the floors are wood and old). It was so strange, but wonderful having champagne in a comfy robe in a beautiful suite while somebody else was pressing my clothes. When Charlene came back with my dress we asked her how to get to the Long Bar, as the hotel is huge. She told us that when we are ready to go, press

The service call button. How great is that?
the button and she would show us the way.
We finished our Champagne and pressed the button for Charlene, I want one of those buttons in my house. She walked us through the hotel to the Long Bar. She was so wonderful and felt bad that we didn’t get the whole day there and we were only staying one night. After saying goodbye, we sat down at the bar. It is a fun bar. It is dark wood and is very nice. Mark ordered half a yard of Tiger beer, and I had a Singapore Sling. We also ate a ton of peanuts and added to the amount of peanut shells on the floor. Mark and I had a couple more drinks at an outside table since it was so warm outside.
Mark and I are appreciating the luxury of the place and off to dream about being able to only stay in Raffle hotels for the rest of our life.
