So....the first entry from Hong Kong...

It has been a pretty mad week...everything seems to be up a pace here! Having to find a suitable flat mate within about a week. I've been allocated my school now, which is in Sha Tin, and at the moment I am in a guest house near Mong Kok. Flat hunting begins tomorrow!

I spent the first few days at a youth Village in Ma on Shan, which was meant as a gentle introduction to HK - where it is a (little) more rural! I've had my first cantonese lesson, and learned to be careful when telling a taxi driver to turn round, because if you pronounce the intonation incorrectly...it can highly offend the driver! Food was mostly noodles, noodlles and more noodles, for breakfast lunch and dinner, but I found myself some good sushi.

Swimming at night in a pool surrounded by skyscrapers was pretty cool. I took a trip to Sai Kung, a cute little fishing village. There was a lot of 'getting to know each other' going on, so that was good - there are lots of lovely people, mostly from UK/Canada/America.

afternoon was a sea of people, shops, and bustle, at every turn, it was great fun. Did my first bit of bartering whilst mobile phone shopping! Then I took a trip to Hong Kong Island just for fun. Heading into town tonight, so will see the lights of HK!

It is an intense and exciting time of new city, new job, new friends!

That's a brief summary of the non-stop week I've had!
