Our Front door Well....It has been little over a week since my last entry, and so much has happened. Vienna to Lake Bled, Slovenia and now the capital of Slovenia Ljubljana (Loob leeyaana).
We spent two days in Vienia, where my mom studied for 4 months. I had been there before, but the weather was terrible and I did not have a good feeling about the city. This time we decided to take a bike tour the first day and really got a great overview of a wonderful and beautiful city, full of art, culture and a ton of history that has shaped the world as we know it. Highlights of this city included having cappucino and a chocolate croisant for breakfast and having a little austrian woman tell me about the opera in vienna and how amazing it was.
I also decided to get a ¨euorpean Haircut¨ at young style. The place was really cool and they were playing lloyd techno music and every hairdresser whore a headset that the receptionist could tak to them through. I asked for a tame euro haircut. The hairdresser introduced herself to me brought me water and magazines. I was really nervous but after an
Lake Bled
this is my life... unbelivable haed massage i was fully relaxed. Youl see it in the pictures but i think it turned out really well, and now i full fully accepted and apart of the european culture with my slight mullet. Business in the front party in the back. It´s not that long but it is way better than my fro that i was sporting.
Lloyd and I bumped into this guy felix that we had met in London. He was from Austria and said that he would take us out. We met him at the modern art museum but he was meeting a girl so he offered to have his friends take us out. We squashed into a tiny VW Golf and sped through the streets. I feared for my life, but the driver was really nice. side note he was the National junior skiball champion and lloyd and he hustled some german guys for a beer. They took us to the bermuda triangle distirct but nothing was really going on. He even stoped at the ¨best sausage¨ place in vieanna. They love their sauasage here. The guys that we met were all recent graduates of highschool and were heading off to
Canyoning
Who are those hunks? the military for their mandatory service...i thought that was pretty interesting.
The next day lloyd and I split up and I headed for the the aresenal museum where Duke Franz Ferdinands car that he was assasinated in is kept. It was amazing to see something that basically started the first world war and totally shaped the world as we know it today.
We decided to catch a train to Slovenia and arrived in Ljubljana at like 230 in the morning. Tired and not having a place to stay we headed for lake bled. As our guide book says if there were a god of tourism he would have dsigned lake bled. we arrived at about 6 am and sat by the lake, watching teh sun slowly rise and trout jump out of the water. the water looked like glass, and i was in a state of aww. The lake is set at the bottom of the julian alps and has a little island in the middle of it with a church on it, as well as a castle on a cliff overlooking the lake. We havent spent more than two nights anywere so we thought it would be

Cafe on the river a good idea to hang out here for four days and just take it easy. We hung out at the grass beach on the lake, swam, hiked, and even did some canyoning, which is like frestyle jmping down a gorge with ropes, sliding down natural slides carved in the limestone and jumping of 5 meter high rocks. We wore these ridiculious wetsuits and prided our selves on our ridiculosity.
Another highlight of Bled was the music festival that was going on. It consisted of a big tent with a rock band that played american rock songs. They started with killing in the name of by Rage agains the machine. They had a raffle in the tent. I bought a ticket and won a hand carved box. I traded it for a shirt and then tried to trade the shirt for this cool trucker hat that says Slovenia on it, the lady ended up just giving it to me....There are pictures of lloyd and me with this crazy Slovenian guy who was wasted who almost got in a fight with the raffle people when he tried to get the hat for me. Oh those slovenes are so nice...
We met a ton of people in Bled who we ended up hanging out with everynight. Two welsh guys, Huw and Iyan, thre english girls, and two english blokes. We just hung out and lauged a lot, while Huw and Wilfred looked for horse meat, that the Slovenians are known for. Unfortunately they did ot find their horse meat but last night lloyd and I did find a little restaurant call HOT HORSE, where lloyd ordered a horseburger, which wasnt that great, a bit chewey. Beef is way better.
The slovenians are some of the nicest people weve met so far and EVERYONE speaks english. I think the only person weve met that didnt speak english is the housekeeper at our hostel.
FInally we are currently in Ljubljana, the capital. It is a really charming city, with Baroque buildings and a mediteranean feel, sans the ocean. The women are so so beautiful here, our necks are getting tired. We had to stop pointing out the beautful girls because it was like every fifteen feet.. There isnt much to do in ljubljana but to enjoy the ambiance and wander the little streets.
Our hostel is an old converted Jail set in the artsey part of town. There is actually a community next to the hostel that is its own seperat republic, with its own laws. Basically a super town. Last night lloyd and I stayed in one of the converted jail cells. The room was tiny but llodys bed was a loft above mine. Each room is designed differently. Basically it's the coolest hostel we've stayed in yet.
We are both starting to crave the ocean and the beach. I think we are going to leave for Croatia today.
A couple interesting things. We met a girl from Namibia who offered to put us up at here vacation home, where we can go sand boarding. Sweet. Um we are contemplating flying up to Munich for a few days to go to Oktoberfest. And we are looking to get Scuba certified in croatia. Umm as you can here and see life is not bad. We have finally sort of gottent into a rhythm and traveling has become really easy.
Miss you all,
please send me emails, if you want i can give you adresses to send me care packages. haha...

How in the hell do you keep winning raffles! God God Dammit Dammit! If you go up to Oktoberfest, definitely cruise south into Switzerland. I recommend seeing Berne, the capital, and then riding up into the mountains to Interlaken. Song of the Day: Dispatch - Two Coins Song of the Yester-Day: Brubeck's Take Five
