The 0.50 Cal PistolsThe 0.50 Cal PistolsThe 0.50 Cal Pistols

Do ya feel lucky punk? Well do ya?
Well this is a very short entry to describe a very unique experience I had a couple of weeks ago (it took me a while to get these photos off the camera). Greg, an American friend of ours offered to take me shooting to a local indoor range in Jacksonville. Greg owns a number of handguns including a Colt .45 and a .44 Magnum (Dirty Harry's gun), so who was I to say no?

We arrived at the range and it was just like the movies - you attach your target, press a button and it slides along an automatic pulley so you can set the distance you want to shoot. We then pulled out all Greg's guns and shot like maniacs. There were all sorts of yokels in the place too, looked like they'd just stepped off the farm in Alabama! One guy was shooting to prove his competance for a gun license and he was spraying rounds all over the place - it made me very nervous. I think he may have passed too......

The .44 Magnum was really cool to shoot - it was like a Hand cannon, bloody noisy and a fair kick on it,

This is the target we used for the shoot off - it shows just how accurate the .44 Magnum is. No wonder Dirty Harry kicked ass so much!!
but so bloody accurate it was disturbing (see the attached photo's of the shoot-off Greg and I had). The range also owned a 0.50 Cal revolver which you could shoot for $5 USD a pop....I passed on that one, but I did pose for the photo!!

It was a truly American experience though and great fun, so Greg I would like to say thanks for your generosity (I didn't even have to help him clean the pistols!!), and any time you want a rematch just let me know - hope you've been practising though!
