Bye Bye Barcelona!

Since we were taking a night train from Barcelona to our next stop, we had a beautiful full day of sight-seeing during our last day there. We started with a trip to the Picasso Museum, then on to a Don Quixote exhibit, and then took a walk through the beautiful Park Guell which features much more work by Gaudi. At the Picasso Museum we saw the evolution of Picasso's work. I'm glad we were able to catch it there since we didn't have time to make it to the Picasso museum in Amsterdam! And Don Quixote was very educational for me since I didn't really know anything about him (including the spelling of his name)! Keith took Spanish in high school and knew about Don Quixote from having read the book (yes, I know it's fictional) so he was excited to see it. The exhibit was really well put together and it was to commemorate the anniversary of the book which was set mainly in Barcelona. Then we made the trek UP to Park Guell (for those of you who have been there, you know why I said trek... whoa... that was a workout!). It was as beautiful as it had been described to be!

Favorites in Barcelona

• Everything Gaudi! It inspired me to really want to do a large-scale mosaic something... like a house! But I'll probably start with something like a headboard. 😉
  
• Food- The fresh food market! The fruit was amazingly fresh, yummy, and refreshing!
  

Interesting bit of info: Like I said earlier, Keith took a few years of Spanish in high school. Because of this, he was able to translate quite a bit, but he was stumped by why there were so many written words that the thought should be different. We later found out that Barcelona has two official languages. In addition to Spanish, many people there speak "Cataluyna"!

Cataluña
My family ancestry is actually from Cataluña. Which is why we are so white. :) My mom's grandmother moved from Spain to Cuba before my grandmother was born. My great-grandmother used to sing me nursery rhymes in Catalan when I was a baby. :)
