Figueres, Spain.
All right, all right. I know I have a lot of catching up to do, as well as a ridiculous amount of pictures to post. The last two weeks have been amazing, but have also taken place at breakneck speed. We went through five different countries and managed to have fairly complete experiences in each of the cities we visited however, there was very little time for luxuries like internet cafes and blogging.

Mom left early yesterday morning, after which I spent the rest of the day in Figueres at the Museu Teatre Dali escaping all the Barcelona tourists. Stayed at the Hotel Duran, Dali´s favorite local haunt, for next to nothing and enjoyed a real bed and German MTV. I went to Castle de Sant Fermin, an old Spanish fortress from the civil war (which reminded me of Pan´s Labrynth). I went to the Toy Museum. I had more frambuesa gelato. I loved Figueres. I almost felt like skipping at one point. My lunch was super cheap and came with a bunch tapas. One was a quail egg, which I love. There were really interesting stores and markets, and not a lot of tourists at all. A nice escape.

Coming back this morning I got lost on the subway and found myself feeling homesick. I find myself with a craving for Mexican food that tapas and paella just can´t fill. Also miss sushi. Why is there no sushi here? I´m here for 4 1/2 more weeks!

Figuring out how to download the pics from my camera without erasing them completely (Valerie, please help!) and then I will do a recap of Holland, Germany, Switzerland, & France. My Spanish classes start Monday...............entonces necessito practicando ahora.

Update: Homesickness cured by checking in at the beach. La Rambla is crazy busy. Woody Allen was filming a movie so it felt just like home.

This stuff is everywhere. They shave it and sell it right off the leg. You can also buy a whole leg if you prefer.

Just a card for me : (
Sad- I didn´t get a big skeleton key. Just a card key. The place was very cool though and it was awesome to have a real room after a few nights in a hostel. Figueres was one of my favorite things and a completely unexpected sidetrip.
