Snow storm

Often you ask, Lizzz, what´s it like where you live. Tell me about your neighborhood. Yesterday was a holiday, Independence Day, and the streets were deserted....at least until 4pm. Thats when the fragile aguanieve became a little less timid and started to turn into just nieve. My lungs inhale the bite. Zap-zing-wham. I am not a pro but I know how snow smells. Jumping up and down. Screaming. Magic and angle food cake is falling from the sky. Our snow storm. The first snow in the city in almost 100 years. Just think about how many people had never seen snow before? And then...all of a sudden it became like Christmas (and infact I even heard christmas songs). You know that feeling you get when its cold and its around Christmas, and maybe it isn´t snowing, but because of all the Hollywood Christmas movies you know it should? Do you know that feeling? Like being a child. And believing that all of your dreams WILL come true. And that feeling of being not so alone. And you actually start to believe in the kindness of strangers. You see it. Not just hope for it.

Under the lacey blanket of snow things become more simple. People hung out their windows and huddled in their front doors. People shyly stood in the snow. People took pictures. People looked up into that sky and maybe because they are looking up and not down they saw you. They saw you and they smiled. They couldnt help but smile. You couldn´t help but smile so big it reached your eyes and it spreaded all across your body and wiggled down into your toes and all of a sudden you are laughing and you are dancing...and its snowing.

Everyone loved the snow but I think most of all the abuelos. They were trying to be calm and let the children have all the fun...but the excitement danced in their eyes. They too had never seen the snow. Yesterday we were all children. Yesterday we all dreamed, laughed, danced and sang.
