Today a friend here at the best hostel in Buenos Aires gave me the great idea of starting a blog in order to keep everyone up to date on my travels and so that I can have a record in the future. I don't know that I want to try to culminate everything over the last three weeks this moment but I will give it a goal.
Basically Bs.As. is like living in New York or Paris, only Spanish speaking. There are heaps of gorgeous Victorian style building as well as air pollution and other fun things. I have been walking the city pretty much everyday and going to my cousin Jennifer’s gym quite frequently. My first week I went to a couple different clubs with some friends in the hostel, and checked out Jennifer’s country house with her and her husband Ramon, as well as his father (also Ramon). I relaxed, rode horses, and practiced my Spanish.
The following week was similar, I tried out a free tango lesson, had some good times at the Hostel, bought a didgeridoo at the street market (that’s right I had to have a
travel size bamboo didj which I am quite excited about) and as always practiced Spanish. I have found that a lot of my time is spent visiting with fellow travelers and trying to get a handle on the language. Although some of the stories from other travels are quite amazing and learning a language is not an easy task.
This last weekend I went to an awesome club with some local girls and another with my Aussie friend (Mike) which thoroughly trashed me to the a breaking point and am only getting my bearings again now three days later. The clubs here stay open until 7 or 8 in the morning, so when I say that I go out to a club generally I will return home at about 5 or 6 in the morning on a normal night, and even later on a good night. It is for this reason that I got sick from going out this weekend.
I also need to at least tell one of the stories from the hostel, so I will go with the best one. The legend of Estonia. We had a young Estonia guy who ended up here one night.
He spoke very little English and no Spanish so how he got here was shaky, but basically something with him letting off a fire extinguisher at his other hostel or somewhere and the police picking him up (as he was quite drunk) and bring him to our hostel. The thing is he was at our hostel, because he could not remember the name of the place where him and his friends where staying. All his stuff was there and he had nothing on him. He was at our hostel for a week in the same clothes (shorts of course as it is winter here) hanging out in the bar and using the little money the Estonian consulate (one guy) gave him to basically buy cigarettes, beer, and maybe a little food. It took him five days just to get on the internet here at the hostel to try a look for his hotel. He had no phone numbers of friends, e-mails or anything. It was the story that everyone heard as soon as they got here at asked about the strange guy who never left the hostel, as he was on house arrest, and never changed his clothes (which isn't
that uncommon, but shorts are not a good choice right now). Finally after a week a German made him look at his map (as the Germans could not fathom the situation it drove them nuts) and here that he might be able to find the hotel. That night he showed up to an already crazy night in the Portal Roof bar yelling "I found it", it was 6 blocks away. That night was crazy, Estonia was like Borat in motion, I cannot describe it in words, but it was something else. So with that I will say that is good for now, but believe me this is one of many random occurrences.

It is quite odd being here on the 4th of July, but it is ok because now I feel more like a traveler as I cannot little a normal schedule or life interrupt what I am meant to do. Today was excellent because I am finally feeling pretty much normal and over the weekend bender/sickness. I basically have been working on my first real venture out of the city and of course Spanish. There was a large crowd of protesters/paraders/whatever they were
doing/ walking past the capitol and on 9 de Julio. To go along with these people where police in full riot gear to make sure that they did not get out of control, it was interesting to say the least. Tonight I am going to possible go to the club with a Brazilian girl named Angelica, with whom I have been visiting with the last few days, but I am going to convince her that the clubs are overrated if I can. Otherwise, dance a lot and drink very little. Also I had lunch with Jennifer, which is always a treat, and she was worried like a second mother about me traveling by myself. Gotta love Jennifer, es mi favorita prima.

I am being efficient today, and am going to try to catch up before too many days go by. Just booked the Mendoza trip and am stoked to get out of the city and go to the mountain. The night of the 4th I went out with a Brazilian friend and a group of her Brazilian friends. It was an interesting night to say the least, we started and a really
fancy bar and watched the Brazil, Uruguay futbol match which worked well since I was with Brazilians and they won the game naturally. We made a friend with the server (as we where supposed to have paid 40 pesos a person for the private room we where in) and ended up with a heck of a deal for all the food and drink we consumed. Afterwards the party plus some new friends from the bar moved on to the Museum club, which is quite nice and once again got a deal. We did not want to pay the 20 peso cover as the club closes at 3pm on Wednesdays and we were there at 1 or later. But the Brazilians again made a friend (they are quite good at that) and about 9 of us got in for 90 pesos. Dance, dance, dance, and then call it a good Thursday. Yesterday I mainly repacked for Mendoza, visited with friends that I may not see for a while once I leave, went to class, went back to my new favorite Japanese place, went to the gym, then of course we all had to go out as it was Patrick's (furniture here
at the Portal) last night. Today I am getting my last bookings in, last Spanish class, and hopefully going to the gym and going out. Right now the hot water is out, so I am waiting on that, but wish me luck.
O and for those of you reading everything as I post it, check out the Estonia story I added at the end of my first page. Also I will add pictures soon I swear, I just have had a hard time wanting to sit in front of the computer for long periods of time.

Yesterday was not to exciting as I am still fighting a bit of a cold, so today I will upload some pictures yeah!!!. I did manage a journey to the gym and to finishing booking everything for Mendoza (which is tomorrow woohooo), so I have been productive, but I actually ditched two groups of people (one being old hostel friends, and one being cute Brazilians) so I could go to bed early and have a good night tonight, to maybe I will have some better stories later.
