Saved me in Miami!
¡Hola y buenos dias de Peru!

Thankfully I have arrived safely in Peru, but I can´t say it was trouble free! Missing a plane is probably top of the list of nightmare scenarios when you are going on holiday, and guess what, it happened to me. No problems getting from EMA to Glasgow, or from Glasgow to Newark(NY), but then a delayed flight to Miami meant I arrived around an hour and a half later than expected. Check in for my flight to Lima had closed and I was stranded in Miami Airport at 1am with nobody around. A big thanks here to some Peruvian guys who also mist the flight - when everywhere opened up again around 5am they negotiated us another couple of flights to get to Lima via Quito, Ecuador.

So five flights and 48 hours later I arrived in Peru at last, thankfully with my baggage (which travelled to Lima without me, but no-one in Miami seemed to know where it went!) Have been staying in a pretty decent hostel with some great views from the balcony. Had a first meal in Peru with my tour operator (which tasted alot like Satay Beef from Wong´s
Nightime in Lima
takeaway ).

Lima is totally different from anywhere I have ever seen, it really feels like a developing country´s capital city with 9 million people. Driving in the taxi from the airport was really interesting. There are loads of shabby low-rise buildings, packed streets and little food carts everywhere, with loads of pollution and noise. If you imagine what traffic in India is like you have a pretty good idea of traffic in Lima! Everyone kind of does their own thing. Pedestrians move out of the way or be crushed!

Heyy mike (=
Its nice to hear you're ok bruv! Was really worried when we heard about the whole plane-missing business (therefore I am OFFICIALLY blaming you if I failed my Biology exam last week! You see, I was just too distraught to think properly... *ehem*) =p But by the looks of you're Lima pics its a pretty fantastic place! TAKE SOME FROM HUARAZ!! It sounds VERY New Zealand-ish (a good thing of course!) Oh and do me a favour and don't suffer from too much altitude sickness!! =p *internet hug* Love, Lari x-x-x™
