I am just a couple of weeks away from moving to Bangkok, Thailand.

I've notified my boss and co-workers of my resignation, effective Friday, June 29, 2007. There are a lot of loose ends to wrap up at work prior to my departure, but I'm confident it will get done.

There is also the daunting task of packing & storing my stuff. I will only be bringing two suitcases and a backpack with me to Thailand. Considering I intend to fit everything else I own in a single 5'x7'x8' storage unit, the bigger project is selling all that won't fit. Obviously, most furniture is classified as "sell", or even "give away".

Most storage units in the area run around $100, but I'm going the BigBox route. Have you heard of this? They bring a box and drop it off at your place. You load the box, and they pick it up when you are finished and deliver it to their warehouse. The cost is $59 per month if prepaid for 1 year.

You may be wondering how I will support myself in Thailand???

Actually, I have registered for a 6 week TEFL class through Text and Talk Academy in Bangkok. I intend to get certified to teach English, one of the most common professions of foreigners in Asia. Although it is possible to teach without a certificate, or any prior experience, I want to be prepared so I can do a good job.

What is my girlfriend doing?

She is teaching Math to High School students at a private school in Bangkok.

Where will I live?

Saai found me an apartment near hers in northern Bangkok. It's within walking distance so it'll be easy to see each other frequently. It's still hard to believe I will soon be living in Bangkok, Thailand. Better yet, I will be able to see Saai on a regular basis.
