Gav & Mike
Break to get out of our warm riding gear north of Astoria Left Wednesday morning for Portland on a pub crawl ride w/ Gavin & Mike via the Port Townsend. Great (very cold ride) along the Olympia Pennisula to the ferry terminal in Whidbey then the crossing to Port Townsend. This is a must do ride again!
After various pub visits through Portland and Seattle (all points in between), Mike and Gav were able to extend their trip to accompany me to Winthrop and an excellent ride over diablo mountain along Hwy 20.

Diablo Pass
Hwy 20 at Diablo Pass on the way to Winthrop. Top ten rides in WA! said "This is Oregon you know." I guess that means "yes" which makes it a great deal since my old tent cost twice as much and was 6 lbs heavier.
Having lunch in the old mill district of Bend. Very cool place and worthy of visiting again. Lunch at Bella Cucine with an ice cold mocha and a turkey pesto sandwich.

Rode to Klamath Falls OR. I've ridden Hwy 97 before on the way back from death valley to meet Peter & the Harpers in Jasper. It rained periodically while I rode, and I decided against a side-trip to Crater Lake due to snow and thunder showers. I'll vanquish my Crater Lake demons another time.

See? I knew you'd be jonesing for home-improvement projects just a short way into your trip. ~~~ Flash-forward 5 years when we're all visiting Jeff's flashy high-rise condo, easily recognized by the giant sequoia arbor on the balcony! ~~~
