Yes it does rain in Australia- but only where we seem to be!
We made some friends for life on this trip, aided greatly by the many bonding sessions, always in the rain! Only half an hour in we had to change a tyre in the rain, with the spare being at the bottom of the pile on the roof-rack! We set up camp to discover tents with more holes than canvas, and spent most of the evenings huddled under a tarp. Thankfully we all got on, the beer lasted and everyone had lots to talk about and jokes to make. We have invitations to enough countries to make our next trip.
Fraser island itself is nice, but not as amazing as we were led to believe. We had a great time at Lakes Wabby and MacKenzie though, especially as we were blessed with rare sunshine for both! Alex got a real experience in off-road driving, sometimes up to the wheel arches in water.
A great weekend, despite the weather and lack of sleep due to some irish partying from the group pitched nextdoor!

Sounds awesome. I have heard so much about this from all the people I have met in NZ (practically everyone has just come from Oz) and I can't wait to do it myself.
