First update for a couple of days, haven’t really had much to say I’m afraid. Have spent most of my time searching the net for share accommodation. My laptop battery only last about 2 hours and its amazing how fast 2 hours goes when on the net. That said, I do get distracted with other emails (not to mention any names, KELLY!), checking out band sites, doing a bit of job hunting and the like.

Once my battery is flat, I plop myself in front of the tele at the hostel whilst my lappy recharges.

Then its back to surfing the net. To further complicate things I don’t have a net account so I need to leach access (perfectly legal I tells you …). Luckily there are a few places within close walking distance that have good wifi access, only thing is that only one of them is partially covered. I’ve gotten wet and very cold whilst using the net.

Given how often it rains here (the last two days have seen almost constant drizzle) its amazing that almost none of the building offer any cover. Their sides are almost all flat, which looks great but does nothing to protect from the rain. Then again, the rain is often so light that you don’t get wet as such.

Looked at another place today, the location was good but the place was not very nice for the amount of rent and there was just a bath, no shower. I’m sorry, I know the English don’t wash, but there’s no way I could cope without a warm shower every morning

But not to worry, there are more places I hope to check out soon.

Excitement factor for the last few days has been seeing the band Amiina. Amiina are four girls from Iceland that have seen twice before as supports for Sigur Ros (my weird Icelandic band for those that have heard me talk about them before). Amiina basically just play weird tunes on a variety of instruments including 2 xylophones, 2 keyboards, 2 laptops for sampling, lots of weird buttons, a set of wine glasses, a saw as well as the harps, violin, cello etc.

The band swap instruments mid song and are always moving around. For a very brief encore, the girls all sat down and picked up a saw (the kind you’d get from Bunnings) and played a brief song. The saw is played by striking a violin bow on the non serrated side and then bending the saw to manipulate the sound. It makes for a great spectacle and the sound is pretty cool, kinda eerie.

Anything interesting happening back home?

Kel's not happy
At the risk of taking up valuable battery whilst you're reading this, I'm just letting you know...Kel's not happy with you!! She was going to tell you herself but she didn't want to 'distract' you.
