Sondre Lechre on stage
Taken with my phone so the photo is nothing special. A couple of days have passed so time for another update …
Went and saw Norwegian singer/songwriter called Sondre Lechre on Friday night.
Sondre’s previous CD, Duper Sessions, was full of brilliant jazzy style songs, very Frank Sinatra/Harry Connick Jnr style. Not normally my cup of tea (a bit too adult contemporary for my liking) but it’s well worth the purchase if anyone wants some cool music for dinner parties etc.
Rose - do you remember that I gave you a burnt copy of this (see I said it was old people music! - sorry couldn’t resist).
Oh and Claire M - control yourself but Sondre toured with Elvis Costello last year!
Sondre and band put on a great show, full of energy, amazing vocals, great guitar work and the band seemed to really enjoy themselves
To offset the fact that both Sondre albums I have were burnt copies I bought some merch, a nice black hoodie for 15pounds (there was a practical side to this as I only went in jeans and a T so the hoodie kept me warm on the walk home).
Also did some other shopping Saturday, bought a new pair of jeans and a l/s top (Kelly - from Topman and on 20% discount!) and a new satchel/bag as my old one was falling apart under the weight of my lappy.
Actually on my way home from shopping I’m sure I past Sondre in the street but didn’t know what he looked like back then - still I suppose I wouldn’t have said hello even if I did know it was him.
The room search is still frustrating me, I got really excited thinking I’d found a place in this amazing two bedroom warehouse style apartment (it was unbelievably cool inside and the rent was much better than other crappier places) but I think the guy was a bit uncertain renting to me as he is away most of the time and the place is well kitted out and I’m sure I look a tad dodge at the moment.
Oh well there are other places I will try to check out.
The city was a buzz with the Man U v Chelsea match, I actually watched a bit of the pre match TV coverage but only watched 5 mins of the game, first half and nothing happened, even the commentators were saying how boring it was.
Then for a low key sat nite I went to the movies and saw Zodiac and had Nando’s for dinner. There are now two Nando’s in the city, both near each other, the one near the cinema is old skool Nando’s but the other one in the big shopping centre is quite funky for a Nandos. Oh and they are all sit down restaurants here with alcyhol as well (its hard for the poms to last 5 mins without a drink).
Alcohol and Nando’s - does life get any better (or classier?).
And as for Zodiac, it’s a brilliant film, an hour in I was thinking it could be an early winner of movie of the year, sadly the film is way too long (over 3 hours) and although really interesting it drags on a little with the whole chasing the serial killer thing.
Sunday was a lazy day, their was a big run in the city like the City2Surf, I kinda felt envious of the runners, its been a while since I’ve run and wouldn’t have minded entering if I had more notice (sad aren’t I?). The weather was almost perfect today as well which would have made the run even better.
Checked out another place today, good location but the place was a bit boring especially after the last place! Looks like I will be extending my stay at the hostel.
Hope y’all had a great weekend.

A chickens not a vegetable!
Alcohol and Nando’s - does life get any better (or classier?) Pete you have it made, what else can you ask for? Two of the finer things in life both served in the same place. They don’t do that back in Morley ;) Craig
