Little bit of history on this tiny island. This was once the home of Roman Emporer Tiberius. The monastery next to our hotel was founded in 1371 -- the site where Tiberius once ruled Rome. The monastery is now a private school. We were told by our tour guide today that when Tiberius would get sick of any of his many wives, he would quite simply throw them off the cliff. At least those gals had a nice view going down. (sick, I know...but it's late)
We took some gorgeous pictures today of one of the most beautiful places we've ever seen. Our tour guide, Fabio took us to Anacapri, the island's other town at the top. We sat poolside and enjoyed the view a little more after of course, more shopping, gelato, and cappucinos.
Oh! A few things I've learned to say very fluently....
1) scuza la mi amica (forgive my friend)
2) Ciao Bello (hello handsome) ....very helpful when they see us coming with our luggage
Some funny things we've heard since our arrival in Capri. Note: The waiters are VERY complimentary.
1) "You are treasury. Number 1."
2) "You are not woman. You are
paradise."
3) "You look like Bond girl."
4) "Oh mamma mia! You are Julia Roberts!"
Always a laugh, no matter where we go in Italy.
