April 27th: Headed for Hightop Hut

OD’s comments: Not sure if I gave our exact location last night. We stayed at Lewis Mountain
Camp. Will try to make Hightop Hut today. We changed our packs around yesterday
and it seemed to work better. CC carries her sleeping bag, both cloths bags, the
cook pot and water purifier. I carry all food, tent complete and the fuel/stove.
We will try a new system of walking today. Have been walking for three hours
before taking a break (CC sets the pace, so no slave driver comments please :-)
Today we will take a 5 - 10 minute break every hour. It will be a few days until
the next phone. Thanks for the prayers.

Pat/Debra, We check your blogs regularly and are with you in spirit. We will soon be on our bit of paradise at the island and as Sal cannot manage the walking because of the arthritis, we'll try and stay with you and imagine the experiences as you pass them on to us so clearly. Patrick and Deborah, We are glad to have met you at Hightop Hut. My nephew and I really enjoyed talking with you. We hope you have great weather, the wind is at your back, and you enjoy the Old Dominion ! If you guys need anything while you are walking through Virginia, put a message on here to me. My folks live in southwest Virginia (Wytheville). We could shuttle you, bring supplies, relay info, whatever. I'll keep up with your blog. Keep your spirits up and take it slow and steady.
