I set off from ko phangan alone this morning, well at 11.40 I didn’t want to rise too early, grabbed a sandwich from our favorite deli and headed to the pier to get the ferry over to samui. The ferry was comfy so I was happy, plenty of room which was needed as I had been given the task of looking after the beach gear that we now have, consisting of: bats and balls, volley balls etc. after a struggle across the rickety old pier on arrival I make it to a mini bus which was going to Chaweng beach the main back packers area.
I ended up getting dropped know where near where I was heading which was north of the beach I was dropped the furthest south I possibly could, which wouldn’t have bothered me so much had the beach not been 8km long. so the only option was a moped on I hopped with my 5 bags and made it to matlang resort (bungalows on the beach) accept the ones on the beach were 15 pound a night, so a hut in the rear garden became my home for about 6 pound a night which was the cheapest around. The first night here I had met a few new friends in the shape of a millipede a cockroach and a tiny lizard, (I didn’t look under the bed). The next morning I thought id take a walk along the beach so went for my favorite shorts only to realize I had left them on the balcony of my last GAFF. buggar. At least now I had something to do search for some budget shorts. I walked the hole length of the beach and eventually found some, and noticed the amount of fast food places as it says In the lonely planet Samui is like a beautiful women with too much make up on, then the heavens opened and down came the rain it absolutely pissed it down which was nice as it had become really muggy.
That night after two boring days I decided to go out for a couple of quiet beers, and headed for legends bar which looked pretty good and was playing good music. after one I headed to the Hendrix experience bar, I don’t know if the experience was his funeral but this place was dead just two old fellas sat at the bar looking at their own reflection in their pints needless to say this venue was removed from the bar crawl next on the list was Penny Lanes. same story, though I had one as they had seen me walk in. then without realizing (honestly) I found myself on prostitute street, Jesus im going home, the amount of old fat purvey blokes probably with wives at home, with young girls was sickening.
The following day Gary phoned and had arrived in Samui, so I secretly checked him in to my "hut" where wewere once again to share a bed. That night we met with Gary’s' cousin Jenny and her boyfriend Joel who were on a stop over on their way to Australia. Really nice couple, we had a few on the beach with them then headed home not before dipping in a couple of swimming pools. One more day was spent here on the island then we booked our tickets to Phucket in the hope we would make the water festival
