thats sun set beach in the distance, we are staying on sun rise beach they are in walking distance from one another. Today we leave Bangkok heading to Ko Pha Ggan, home of the full moon party and many other spin offs such as the half moon party, the silver moon party, the full moon warm up party the half moon warm up party, the full moon pool party, the jungle party and more. As you have no doubt guessed they enjoy their parties on the island. And you can see why most of them are on the beach and the beach is a beautiful huge mass of crisp white sands, with over 10.000 people on it on the main full moon night you can imagine how good it is.
So a very excited Gary and Dave, stand waiting for the bus in Bangkok. Then it arrives and is by far the best bus we have been on, I’d go as far as saying it was pretty flash with transfers down the sides etc and for the first time we had a loo on board which was a relief. But then after showing the film the Rock they put some awful sci-fi thing on. LOUD, this made it nigh on impossible to get any shut eye despite being an overnight journey going south
of Thailand. We arrived at a pier where we boarded the ferry to the island. After a round trip of 16 hours we make it, its baking hot and there are westerners everywhere for those who have been on a lads or girls holiday you’ll understand when I say it was like a really nice Kos or Malia. But there was a difference; everyone on the island is in good shape, well other than the scabby dogs here and there who love to bark in the night, and of course Gary and I.
Once we had booked into the sun cliff resort Guest house (with air-con and free breeky wa hey) we headed down to the beach, and as I said earlier this is a good beach, pure white sands, football tournaments on the beach, volleyball, jet skis, and the water is the warmest I have ever been in which isn’t such a good thing as there is no way of cooling down. A few more days on the beach and taking it easy at night the full moon party was upon us. And didn’t we know it there were people everywhere with glow sticks and luminous body parts.
After
Building sights
This is what the builders have to look at all day long bless em a few in the Reggae bar which didn’t play much in the way of Reggae, (but more Bob Dylan, Lennon, The Who, Paul Weller, Neil Young Etc?) we headed down to the beach and had a couple of their infamous buckets, again like Kos etc but this time instead of ordering a cocktail to go in the fishbowl up at the bar. There are stools dotted around the streets, selling little sand castle buckets with a bottle of whisky a can of coke and a bottle of red bull for around two pound, “bargain we’ll take two”
For some reason I don’t remember much more from the full moon party but we were assured that we didn’t see out the full 15 hours, Which is maybe a good thing as I only spent 5 quid. But we did wake up with suspicious luminous drawings on our arms.
After a couple more long days and short nights. We hired a jeep and struggled like crazy to see the rest of the island as the hills were more or less vertical. after a few hairy moments we found a few view points, met some elephants and rescued an injured Israeli girl, well
we didn’t so much rescue her but she and her bloke had fallen off their moped and her legs were cut to ribbons, so we cleaned her up and drove her to her resort which turned out to be right out the bloody way through building sites the lot. But we did our bit. That night we took the jeep out again and got a bit lost in the jungle which at least looking back was quite funny
The next day Gary set off for Singapore to see his Parents who are on a stop over from Australia, so that day and night was a bit boring just ended up watching a couple of films in the bars, one of my favorites was on; wedding crashers, so I got myself comfy, and about an hour in, the owner strolled over and switched it off saying he was off to bed Buggar
Tomorrow I leave for Ko Samui, where I will meet up with Gary again in a few days
