Worlds Most Dangerous Road

From Potosi, we made our way to the capital La Paz.
After arriving in La Paz we booked ourselves on a Mountain Bike trip down the " World´s most Dangerous Road." It is almost a 3000m down hill. What a blast!! We hired Trek Bikes with hydraulic brakes (complete with brake fluid). We were glad of the good brakes as the weather made the conditions a bit more difficult. It was brought home to us how dangerous the road was when we passed the spot where an Israeli had fallen over the edge a month before (apparently he was mucking around though), as well as countless shrines where various vehicles have fallen off over the years. Luckily there is now a new road for other traffic which is much safer. We had lunch after the ride at a place called Coroico at a hotel overlooking the entire valley. We liked this place and after the Choro trek we ended up staying the night there.
We decided to do the Choro trek as an alternative to the Inca Trail to Macchu Picchu, because we'd heard that the Peruvian government had really tightened the regulations for permits and

Worlds Most Dangerous Road we probably wouldn't be able to do it at the last minute. The Choro trek has similar Inca paving and scenery without the major archaeological site at the end of course. It also lacks the crowds of people which is nice.

i think they call it the 'most dangerous road'..when you ride it on a TREK????just kidding...yet again it's great to see you are both safe and havin a GR8 time..... seb :0)
