Champagne Lake
Again, with the steam being blown away. Ok so that was one day in Rotorua, this was my last day in Rotorua. I can't believe how much I've managed to fit in, and I'm aslo budgeting really well. Ãts funny it feels like I've been here for ages, because I have done so much stuff, but it also feels like ti has gone very quickly. It is a very strange feeling. It has also just hit me how long I'm going to be away for. It felt like a holiday up until now, but now its sinking in that I'm gone for 6 months. Thats a long time. I guess i'm just feeling nostalgic, but i'm not sad - I'm SO excited to go to Queenstown.
I love New Zealand, I think... even more than Oz. But don't let any Aussies here me say that. Man they sure are patriotic, the amount of aussies ive heard slagging of NZ... Hahaha.
Anyway I'll get back to what I did yesterday.
So again I got up early and booked soem tours, in the mornign i went to Waitaupo (I think?) which has loads of multicoloured lakes which were amazing. I went on tour with 3 english boys from my
Spider Webs
Above a boiling mud pit backpackers (base) and we chatted a bit and went our seperate ways in the park. The lakes were AMAZING, The variety of colours was crazy - bright red, emerald green, indigo, bright yellow like a highlighter, acid green etc. Some of the colours didn't come out too well on my camera. It was really sunny which was great (and put on plenty of sunscreen and a hat mom!) which bleached some of the colours on my camera. Ah well no worries. So while the lakes were amzing I was a bit jaded about all the boiling and steaming pots of mud/water. I've seen so many I'm bored now. i also went to see a geyser which was nothing like the ones in Iceland. Firstly they ahd to put soap in it to make it explode 😞 and therwe was some guy commentating with a microphone and there was big stadium of seats surrounding it. Very touristy and not really my scene.
So then we get back to the backpackers at about 12.30 so I have plenty of time to waste until I'm picked up at 5.45pm later. I go on the itnernet a bit putting up yesters blog but it
kept cutting me off whichw as the msot frustrating thign ever. This nice guy helped me though and I got 3 hours for free ($12 worth!)
Then I went on to this Maori village, which wasn't as touristy as I expected. It was family run and rather then some guys doing a dance for you it was actually then teahcing you aabout their culture and strangely enought eh same boys I went on the day tour with were on the Maori village tour as well. We were even seated on the same table. So we got taught soem Maori words and got given a welcoming dance/ceremony and they sang some songs for us. They also made some funny jokes, like telling us to say "Coo - tarr"" telling us its an ancient musical instument. And then they bring out a guitar. I guess you had to be there... but thenwe had a great meal cooked ina traditional way, which was lamb, chicken, potatoes and sweet potatoes, and some english stuffing. I could only handle one normal plates but all the boys had pates piled with food and went for seconds. They teased me for not being able to eat as
much as them lol. it was very good though. As a maori guy told me ""us maoris love our food - thats why you see so many chubby ones"" Afterwards we went on a guided bush walk and we went to a stream where we saw glow worms which was amazing. It was greta to see them, I was considering going to a cave to see them but this was still great.
When we got back I wa a bit shocked to see that the english girls I was staying with had gone, I never got to say goodbye 😞 I got on with them really well. But I'm used to that by now lol, you never really get to say goodbye to the friends you make.
And now i'm off to Queenstown which I have heard some very good things about. I'm so exctied. Except my flight leaves at 13.40 and my shuttle to pick me up is only come at 12.40 but they assured me you dont need that much time as it is a tiny airport. I hope so.
Love you all!!!!!!
Enjoy the photos

Hey you
I'm glad you like NZ! i remember that sulphury smell! i was pretty glad to get out of rotorua in case it all went the way of that road. it still sounds like your having a good time and your pics are great. it's a shame the colours never really show up on camera as vividly as they are in real life, but i guess that's kinda what makes it a special experience. looking at the pictures is in no way the same as being there. anyways, hope you enjoy Queenstown take care love and hugs Emma xXx
