First Waterboys show
taken at the Opera House in Cork Jackie here-
The 16th dawns and the Waterboys await! Cork is a 3 hour drive (Gilligans Island anyone)! We will have time to drink and “get pretty” for the show. 7 ½ hours later we locate our lodgings and barely arrive for the show. Only we could pull off a stunt like this. No problem we think, we can get plenty of drinks during the show, wrong again sparky- the bar closes when the show starts- what kind of backward-ass logic is that! The show is soberingly good! 8 new songs, no This is the Sea and no Purple Rain, the band has obviously not read our MySpace postings! Mike Scott is a true artist and sometimes only the artist knows the plan the rest of us don't see.
After the show we scour the street for alchohol and live music (are you guessing a theme here?). We wander into Ah Bouhdain(??) a traditional Irish music pub. The only thing Irish about the guy singing is his teeth and his name-Seamus (no last name and no website). Once again we enjoy ourselves and our shots and beers.
It's 7am on St Paddys day and besides Zappa and I, nobody
Ed on the hotel balcony
taken at about 7am after a long night of drinking is awake. We just had our first shot of Jameson for the holiday! There is more to tell but I will let someone else recount the tale. Ed has some great thoughts, but like Mike Scott, genius is in the voice of the beholder!!!
