Last day!

Sunday afternoon and we are finished all we want to do. Today we were up early to take the ferry through Sydney Harbour and land in Manly Beach. We know that sun and beach will be a distanced memory after 1 week back in wet/cold Canada. So we gave ourselves 2 hours to dive in the waves, tast the salt water and work on our tan! The ferry to Manly was a 30 minutes side seeing tour through Sydney and the down town core looking from the water side.
Last night Miriam and I celebrated our first evening dinner without the kids and saw the Opera La Traviata at the Opera house. Sorry boys, but you have to give once in a while! During the day we both shopped for somewhat formal party gear as all we had was shorts and thongs (you know the flip flops).
The Opera was in Italian but it was our lucky evening as it was Opera for dummies night. This means that above the stage they had subtitles shown and we were able to not fall asleep and knew exactly what went on. The Story behind La Traviata was very simmilar as the tekst in country and western song. Two people fall in love but are not allowed to stay together, she runs away, he follows , she can still not see him. They go their own ways but she get sick part of a broken hart and just before she dies he shows up on her doorstep. They promis eachother eternal love and as they kiss she dies peacefully in his arms.
We had a nice time together and enjoyed the beautiful power and clearness of the voices in the play.
All what is left to do now is pack all our stuff and one more dinner together before we take off tomorrow morming early. Tonight at dinner the kids will present their top 10 list from Thailand and Australia to us and I'm curicous on what they come up with. The top ten list is entails their favourite place, activity or experience. For us a way to see what they still remember.
Tomorrow back home to Canada and the Wack, with us a lots of bags with souveniers and unfrogetable memories!
