This is the craziest looking boat ever. They had pet pelicans that just circled it.
For the journey from Flores across the border into Belize, we opted for a ¨luxury¨ tourist shuttle. By luxery I mean the seat barely fit both of us and we were surrounded by a bunch of older people. (no offence) Anyways, even though the company was a little dry, it beats a 10 hour ride in a chicken bus. As soon as we crossed the border, the scenary was completely different. Belize definately has alot more money than Guatemala. The houses had real roofs and were made of more than bamboo and concrete. The best best best part about Belize is that for the short time we were there, we understood what people were saying! You have no idea how wonderful it is to actually understand a language. English is so beautiful. In Guatemala we say ¨si¨ alot and nod our heads, whether we understand what they said or not. So far so good. We didn´t spend much time on the mainland. Pretty much as soon as we got to the marina we hopped on a boat bound for the islands.
We have been really lucky so far. Everytime we arrive in a new place someone is there recommending hotels and

showing us around. Maybe they want to be helpful, or... maybe they get a comission. Either way, when we are carrying those stupid backpacks we take all the help we can get. The water of the carribean is sooo blue. It´s insane. We went swimming off the beach and I spent the whole time being careful not to touch the bottom of the ocean. After the crocodile hunter my fear of fish and things that live in the sea has only been confirmed. Why I agreed to go snorkelling is beyond me. The next day we went out to the barrier reef. It was really nice with colourful fish and coral. The whole time I was gripping Kimia´s arm, and muttering into my snorkel ¨im so scared, im so scared¨. And for good reason our guide coaxed out a huge black eel and then a baracuda came near. I definately swallowed some sea water. Then he took us to Shark and Ray alley, where we could swim with gigantic scarey sting rays and sharks. I decided to stay near the boat and hang off the ladder. Anyways, now we can say we snorkelled in Belize and I never have to

This is why I don´t like the ocean.
do it again.
The island itself was really chill and relaxed and if it didn´t cost 5 times as much as Guatemala I think we would have stayed longer. Needless to say, I was excited to return to Guatemala. Me gusta mucho Guatemala.
