the cleanest dirty city

flying into madrid was a mixed blessing at first. the skys were way clearer than the skys clowdy skys of england, but because of such clarity I was able to see the mile high layer of grey blak smog that hung over the city, which was kind of depressing in its own respect. But it was not enough to blot out the hot spanish sun and I have been enjoying wandering aroung the streets in my shorts, especcilay since my now only pair of pants are starting to get kinda funky and not in the good way.

After getting lost a bit i finally found my way to the hostel which is a few blocks away from what my travel book calls the "physical and emotional hart of madrid." for those of you form vancouver its kinda like the madrid version of the comercial drive area. its kind of like there is a 360 degree board walk that radiates out form this city filed with all sorts of shops and reasturants that only raelly seems to get going at about 6 pm. lots pg good wandering around once I got my bearings and wasnt worried about getting really really lost.

I have had a funny encounter. A young attractive black woman engaged me in a conversation and then got realy friendly, the kind of friendly that would coast you money, if you know what i mean. I decliend and excused myself as politly as i could but found it kind of funny that I had some how wandered into the redlight district, what with all the toy stores and famaliys wandering around with there kids.

any ways its been intresting so far and will probalby get more so, and for those of you worries out there I am maneging to stay out of trouble even though trouble seemed to find me.
