Welcome to the road trip of a life time!

On the afternoon of the 15 Corey and I decided that we were fed of of the city and needed to see the rest of Malaysia. We rented a car for eight days and planned our route that night..well kinda. In the morning we went to get some breakfast at 7:30am and pick up some maps. To our suprise no one gets an early start on the day and we had to wait till 10am till a shop opened to pick one up. Finally at 10:30am we were on the road..again, kind of.

Leaving K.L is not as easy at one would think. The street names merge into other ones and one road becomes another without warning. After some frustrating stares at the map, a nervouse laugh and Twice around the largest roundapout in KL we were off in the right direction!

We drove up the number one highway towards Ipoh, some city on the map. On the way we decided to take a Larry and head towards the Cameron Highlands, which was rich in tea and hiking, not to mention cold damp weather. The drive up the mountain

was windy and very dangerouse. We almost became a splat on the the pavement when a truck came around a 90 degree turn almost toppeling over on us! A little further up the road we found this amazing waterfall to catchup on the missed shower this morning and cool off. WE played in there for about half and hour before many tourists showed up.

The Cameron Highlands are quite and calm, a nice and welcoming change. Insted of slowing down from the drive Corey and I picked the largest Mt. on the map and decided to climb it. It was roughly 1840m. The sleep was cold that night and the sleeping bag was finally used zipped up, first time in a month and a half!

The next day we had a long drive north to the state of Kelantan. We drove around Kota Bharu, the capital, for a bit tryingto get our direction to the beach. The (PCB) was the abbriviation for hte beach, I can't remember the name of it. Our intentions were to head to the harbor and catch a jetty over to the Island of Perhentian Kechil, a small island off the NE coast of

Look ladies, we used the map...hopefully they helped?!
Terengganu. We went as far as Kuala Terengganu whic hwas much further then we wanted. After some much needed food we backtracked upto Kuala Busut. We spent the night there and prepeared for a big day tomorrow!

We told our jetty driver that we wanted to go snorkeling and he told us that a boat was leaving in 10 min. So we ran to the nearest hostel and dropped off our bags. We headed to 5 spots around the two islands. Turtle point where Corey and I cruised with a turtle, shark point where we swam with a dozen of Blacktipped Reef Sharks and got swept away from the strong current at another. Our last spot was a secluded beach, sheltered from the wind and wasves that had crystal clear blue water and the best snorkeling I have ever done! We say a baby turtle, a 10 legged horned star fish and huge shelf coral. We met up with some Locals from KL and spent the night getting drunk and drinking out of a cocanut full of rum and fun the rest of the night.

A sad departure in the moning at 7 and we were back on the road heading to Taman Negara, Malaysias Largest National Park. The drive took all day passing through Terengganu and deep into Pahang. Along the way we saw a sing for a waterfall that we just couldn't resist. We drove down this raggity rold road to wind up at a massive waterfall. When we were looking for seclusion and relaxation we ran into about 100 thoudand people celebration the chinese new year. We trecked up the stream from the falls, watching tons of people chillin. At the actual falls there were litterally no people there. We had it all to ourselves! We palyed in the falls and went up and found a 25 foot natural waterslide on the rocks. A little further up we found a pool to jump into. On the way down I slipped and bent my pinky back, spaining it badly. All in a dyas adventures!

In the morning we took a 3 hour boat trip up the river to the camp.To ride was sweet but lacked wildlife because of our 40 horse engien. That afternoon we climbed around a cave filled with bats and slimy things. Mom you would not have loved this place. It was

tight, dark and each cave had one thousand or more bats in it!

On our last day in Taman Negara we booked it up to the canopy tour for a treck along the longest canopy tour in the worl! Thee were lots of ppl waiting to go on so Corey put our names down and headed up the mtn. to see the 2 vies points. The walk along the canopy was scary and not for those afraid of hights! Mum, once agin you would not have loved this part like I did! Corey rocked the bridge scaring a german couple ahead of us!! Good times.
We trecked around 15km in the morning/afternoon visiting a native village an picking up some bracelets made out of a root!

Another day in transit and we ended up in Mersing, another port heading to the island Pulau Tioman. Jetty across and ended up getting a place with a small beach and snorkeling out front. We saw a large Cuttle fish and a baby Cuttle fish out on our adventure. It is the mating seasone for Cuttle fish so we were luck to see a baby! We snapped some nice photos of the sune setting on the ocean drinking a bottel of Jim Bean we felt we deserved from the Duty Free shop. The next day we tagged along a chartered boat to Coral Island, which has the best diving in Malaysia. We got dropped off in a bay and saw two Cuttle fish mating and a family of turtles with a small baby. Not a fun site, we saw many barakudas that were interested in us and wanting a closer look. They were not all that large but who cares!
The visability at our last spot was not that good because the monsoon season kicks up all the sand and sea particals! We smoked good cigard from the duty free while we waited for our jetty back to the main land. 600 horses brought us back!! From Mersing we went Se and then Ne for 6 hours, putijng us back in KL. Wiht just enought gas to ride into town on fumes!! Great trip, awsome time and a memory to last a lifetime!!
