Hello All, and welcome to the craziest party in the world! There was a full moon coming up the 3rd of March in Ko Phangan and decided that we needed to check out and see what all the fuss was about. It turned out to be everyting that It is hyped up to be.
Our hotel was amazing with the first splurge of the trip on accomidation. Our resort had an amazing pool that people from all over the island came to swim and bath in the sun. The view from my bungallow was spectacular. I watched 6 out of the 8 sunsets from my deck. The place was just packed with people. After a couple of days of sitting around I decided that I needed to get away from the pool.
I thumbed through a map and found a nice little bay to snorkel around for hte afternoon. It took about half an hour to find out how to get to the path and another half hour talking to the locals to actually locate the path. Turns out that it is just a small path cut in the jungle over this mtn. The only markers on the trail
Nice Hats Boys
Just a regular night in Ko Phangan were three small green dots that you had to look for. The hike was 5km and took around 2 hours to reach the other side. At times I thought that I would get lost in the jungle but wehn I arrived to this bay it was like showing up on The Beach. Not a soul in sight and a long strip of white sand all around the bay. I snorkeled the entire bay for about an hour till the sun started to set. I needed to head back fast because I was on the sinrise side of the island and if the sun set while I was on the trail or in the bay it would be pitch black! I made it bak in time to watch the suinset on the deck, though I sweated 20lbs off in the process.
The full moon party was supposed to be on the 3rd but that day was a Buddist holiday so the party was pushed to the 4th. They still sold alcohol but didnt play any music at the beach. It was an eerie feeling not having the music pumping everynight. This was the real full moon and those that looked up
Begining of the eclipse
Good call on the tripod Corey in the sky would have seen the most amazing lunar eclipse! It lasted for about one and a half hours and blocked out the moon completely. Corey and I stayed up till 6:30am watching the earths shadow swallow the moon. It was almost ritualistic watching it happen, since I watched Apocolypto, which had to do with the solar eclipse.
The Full moon party was amazing and out of control! There were around 20 thousand people on the Hat Rin beach area creating complete chaos. Techno pumped from almost every bar and black lights lit the beach. People were painted up with boday paint and puples were the size of dimes on every drug imaginable. A small area was roped off called the "safety stop"; where you could drop off your drunk friend to sleep for a while without worrying about them. Great idea, hilarious to see in real life! The party bounced on till 1 pm the next day, though I retired a little earlier. Cant tell much about my experiences because they are too explicit..just kidding. After a 8 day party we caught a jetty over to Koh Tao for a little relaxin!
Your Guide Jordan
P.S. Corey got a sweet tattoo on his right side of a Hyda Sun and a Tribal moon. He spent 10 hours under the gun and had 2 buckets. What a guy! Your my Hero Corey!
Happy Birthday Buddy!
