Hello All! and welcome to the massive city Kuala Lumpur, ofr as us locals call it K.L.
The cith here is truley the city that never sleeps. There is constant teaffic running 24/7 with the street littered with wandering ppl. All in all it was a huge change from our little islands in Indonesia. The first order of buisness when we arrived was to view Malaysia's pride and joy the Petronas Twin Towers, and the KL tower. On our first night we ventured off to the KL tower with a fellow Canadian. Apparently the best view of the Petronas towers at night was from the KL tower and they were right! The view was amazing! The KL tower had a direct view of the Petronas towers from about 3km away. Unfortunatly I was unable to take a clear photo of the towers because to glass was on a funny angle. Sorry folks.
On our second day we tagged along with am american girl who had her day planned out, since we had no plan, no drive and no clue. We started off by visiting the KL Museum of History, getting a turbo lesson on the history of Malaysia. I
had no idea that Malaysia was controlled by the Japanese for 3 years, with great terror. They gained their independence after mass killings and living in fear for many of years. Also I found out that the Malaysians used to use copper figurenes of animals as currency. Could you imagine carrying around 3 alligators and a elephant in your pocket!?
Across the road to an old train station that had some signifigant value to Malyasia, but it looked just like a train station to me.
The National Mosque Malaysia was the most impressive sight along our journey today. It had gold platted everything and beautiful tile designs. It is also has the second highest attendence in Malaysia. A place that I would really like see full; the inside holds 5 thousand ppl and the outer court holds 10 thousand. The National Mosque reaches maximum compacity on fridays and Sundays.
A quick trip through the Orchid and Hibiscus garden, checking out many beautiful flowers. Anyone who likes lush green plants and vibrant bright flowers would love this place.
Not much else to report besides that this place is too busy and crowed, maybe we will have to
Currency of the Past
This currency was impressive, but not all that practical take off somewhere and get away?!! Talk to every one soon!
