Iguazu falls truly are a wonder and a beautiful experience
we were fortunate enough to have the pleasure of visiting this wonder of nature from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides.
both are amazing and offer totally different experiences
the Argentine side thrust us full throttle in the enormity and gloriousiness of the falls.
from the entry gate it was a sweaty and hot walk into the park and an opportunity to jump aboard an open jeep that told us interesting things about the rain forest and most importantly showed us the "heart of palm"
a nice relief for my vegetarian curiosity as it comprises a major part of my diet here
down to the water and life jackets fixed, it was time to check out these wonderous falls ... from the bottom!
fast your seat belts and get ready to be drenched as the speed boat ventured without fear right into the falls
there is no words that an describe what it is like to be soaking wet and unable to see as the thunderous water pounds unrelentingly upon you almost threatening to push you straight through the floor of the boat.
it certainly gives you a wonderful insight into the beauty and power of mother nature.
out of the boat and ready for the climb to the top of the falls and every step thankful for being dipping wet in the hot, hot, hotter than hot temperature
the falls from the top are just as breathtaking as from the bottom and it is possible to cast an eye over the river to Brasil ... just to say "hola, we´ll be over to visit soon ..."
the water in the river is surprising calm at the top of the falls.
nothing like the raging waterfall that thunders at you below
at times we wandered with butterflies, at times we were graced by the storks as they drank the cool water at the top of the falls with their feet refreshed in the water
birds jumped around in the trees and stopped occasionally to have their photo taken
big lizards roam on the floor of the rainforest and strange roadent cross monkeys dashed and darted all over the place while caiman and turtles patrolled the waters
a boarded walk guided us to the "devils throat" and if nothing more than the sheer force of water cascading over the top of the falls to a destination undetermined due to the amazing white spray that the falls were generating were how they got their name, then fair enough!
over the other side of the river and an opportunity to look back on the experiences of the previous day
a slightly more subdued experience providing wonderful panoramic views of the massive expanse that constitutes the falls.
for miles and miles and then even beyond where the eye can see, water cascades from various hieghts to meet its interim destination in the river below
birds cruise in the skies above and monkeys tussle in the trees overhead.
butterflies accompany you when you are not looking, and sometimes, if you are lucky, when you are looking and big hairy hand size tarantulas hide in the bushes near the paths
on this side we were treated to the experience of standing beneath the devil´s throat
from this point of view we were able to see the water hurling itself over the cliff edge and getting confused in the river below and sending up a whitewash spray of ridiculous proportions ...
its impossible to comprehend the amount of water and the speed and force in which it is travelling.
it certainly was a pleaure being able to spend some time watching and wondering ...

Wow
Absolutely stunning! ("Brazilian side of the falls") And the photo is sensational, the way the sunlight catches the falls.
