10th September Well i woke up early at about 4 to catch my taxi and set off for Singapore airport for my flight at 6am and hung around the airport got the mandatory Mcdonalds and then got on my plane and slept pretty much all the way to Sydney as the films on the flight were rubbish.
I arrived in Sydney and it was raining and bloody cold, afte 2 months in the heat of Asia it was a bit of a shock to the system especially when your expecting heat to hit you as soon as you get off the plane. Also i had no where to stay and no idea where to stay so i got in the back of a mini bus and told them to take me to central station. The bus dropped me outside the Wake Up hostel and it was really nice so i got myself booked into a 8 bed dorm. That night i just chatted to my room mates and went to the bar and played pool. In my room at that time there was a girl from canada called melissa, a girl from france called mellany, a guy from England
me in Singapore Airport
Me at a new Dawn of my travels! (Lincolnshire) a guy from northern ireland called Ryan and another guy from manchester called Steve and a Danish guy.
11th September Anyway second day as it was raining i just did my washing and went down to the common room and watched tv and then went for a game of pool and a few beers. Then went into china town with mellisa to grab a bite to eat and then we ventured into the bar downstairs and with our other room mates got drunk, me particularly as it seems like an age ago that i drank that much. My list of drinks included 3 pints of beer, 6 white russians, 3 jugs of whatever cocktail was on offer.
12th September Needless to say the next day i woke up at 1pm and had a horrible hangover so just walked around the park and cleared my head and went back to the hostel and had a few drinks and a game of pool and then had a good afternoon kip. When i awoke i was still not feeling too good and so just stayed in and played cards and also a bit of chess with me
finally wining my first two games ever in my life.
13th September As the weather was finally decent i woke up the next day feeling nicely refreshed i decided to walk to the harbour and finally see the opera house, which is really beautiful and i had fish and chips on the steps and then walked back through the botanicle gardens and saw the flying bat colony and then ventured back to the hostel and just crashed out in front of the tv.
14th September The next day i went on the city orientation walk with the hostel, which felt rather like a school trip but was a great way to meet other people from the hostel.
15th September Went on the Bondi to coogee walk which really had some spectacular views, i felt like finally i was understanding why people liked Sydney so much. This walk also allowed me to meet more good people, an irish guy named eugene, an english guy named john, and two german girls named lisa and umm........ i think the other one was called jenny. We walked along the beaches and it was really nice and we sat

me and the people from my first night in Sydney down and chatted, we then went for a awesome burger at a place next to the beach which makes there own burgers and it was a really really tasty burger. We had to wait ages for it, but if there is one thing i have its all the time in the world to waste and it was well worth waiting for. We made our way back to the hostel about 5ish and went and watched tv and then got a bite to eat in china town which wasnt so good but it was cheap so couldnt complain and then went out for a few drinks at the bar.
16th September I awoke the next morning feeling slightly hungover and had a shower and went for a walk in the park and read my book and then got back to the hostel and went for a game of pool down the bar with my room mates ryan and steve.
17th September Next day i bought myself a ozzy phone and sim card and then went to a gig which was really good went to see a band called sleepy jackson and they, at first, were really bland
the botanicle gardnes and my first sight of the opera house
a magical moment me and my first glimpse of what everyone comes to see in Sydney. but got progressivly better and they had some really good songs.
18th September Then the next day me steve and girls from our floor toni, jenny and camilla went to Glebe market which was a really cool and quirky place and somewhere i liked to go often on saturdays as it had just a very laid back atmosphere and you could just sit down on the benches and listen to the jazz band playing. Me and Steve then went to a free music festival, which was in Newtown and unfortunately it was a dance music festival, i only stayed a few hours but one thing i found strange was the crowd. It reminded me of a glastonbury crowd whereas a dance festival in england would be full of chavs. Anyway i decided i would have a quite night and just have a few games of pool and have a few drinks during happy hour. I then decided to go watch Arsenal v Man Utd at the pub at 1am with John two swedish guys and three swedish girls. Thankfully Arsenal won and meant the next day i could ring home and gloat to my Man Utd supporting family😊
The next few days i spent getting my CV sorted and handing it into various shops. My idea being find a job, find a house/appartment possibly try and play for a cricket team and stay in Sydney until new years eve then travel the coast. This plan ended up taking longer than expected!
