Last Breakfast Burrito at Nick's in Redlands
Where it all started...not the trip, but where it all began for me, in Rochester, NY, more properly the nice town of Penfield where I was born and raised, and where my parents still live.

Item of interest: this site has this kind of hierarchical database of places. I browsed into N. America > United States > New York, but couldn't find Rochester. I did however find the 'Luci and Desi Museum'. I'm happy to report that Rochester and the museum are now at the same level of importance in said database.

Sherry and I are in the middle of the N. American leg of our world tour. She left her job as a labor and delivery nurse on 6/21. She closed things out on her last day with an unassisted birth (happens more than you might think as doctors sometimes get caught up at Home Depot or the golf course and can't make it to the hospital). I left my job as a cartographer/GIS software designer-tester on 6/23, and we left Redlands, CA on 6/27 in two well-stuffed vehicles.

Stops on the way to Rochester:

* night of 6/27 - Green River, UT. Known for
Iowa Organic Farm RestaurantIowa Organic Farm RestaurantIowa Organic Farm Restaurant

Veggie S. Asian food in the heartland
their watermelons.
* 6/28 - Denver, CO. First of many expected nights of free lodging at Brian's place.
* 6/29 - Kearney, NE. Apparently one of the tri-cities, the other two perhaps being Grand Island and Hastings. This reminded me of the Tri-Cities Shopping Center in Redlands. It was never clear to me what the 2 other cities were.
* 6/30 to 7/2 - Chicago. We made it in time to see the Cubbies w/ John. Friday afternoon, July 4th weekend at Wrigley, can't get much more (North) American than that ------- oh yes, how can I forget our lunch on 6/30 at a self-described 'organic farm restaurant' 20 mi east of Des Moines. Sherry was unexpectedly presented with an opportunity to enjoy South Asian veggie cuisine, and in Iowa of all places--------
* 7/3 to now - Rochester.

Expected future stops:

* Port Allegany, PA - (where it all started for my parents). We'll see if that's in the database... ; )
* New York, NY - saying hello to my brother Christian
* Philadelphia, PA - lunch w/ Sean
* Baltimore, MD - Sherry's aunt Diane

Point Special Lager, Sheffield's bad beer of the month (near Wrigley Field, Chicago)
* Washington, DC - sister Lesley and all sorts of friends
* Chapel Hill, NC - Rawley's grad-pad and perhaps a visit to Merge records.
* Charlotte, NC - lunch w/ Eric
* Atlanta/Lawrenceville/Douglasville, GA - Sherry's family and friends. What's with all the 'ville's?

Current stressor: to buy or not to buy an ipod for our RTW trip. Seems kind of petty doesn't it...

We're trying to collect photos of each border crossing. So far we've missed Arizona (it surprised us) and Nebraska (too dark).

Bad Beer?
I am from Stevens Point, Wisconsin originally and I just wanted to make a comment about your selection as Point Special "Bad Beer of the Month". I lived within two blocks of that brewery. I don't agree. I am in Tulsa OK now, and every time I go home people that have never been up there ask me to bring them 6-packs and cases back for them. They are pretty much willing to pay whatever for them too. I completely respect your opinion, but I can't figure out how it gained that title in your picture captions. Interesting site you have though. Hope you have a great time traveling the US. Looks like a blast.

Not my label
Hi, just checking back on my blog. The label "bad beer of the month" came from the Chicago bar we were in. It wasn't my opinion at all, I found the beer quite refreshing.
