It was another beautiful train ride through the coutryside to Zurich where I met Markus, another Swiss english student that stayed with us in NZ. We went back to his brand new flat to meet Annina his girlfriend and to eat a traditional swiss meal of potatoes and melted cheese. Well there was a little more to it than that, special grilling cheese, spices and specialist equipment; mini cheese grilling pans and a cheese grill, quite an affair and delicious.

The next day Markus took me up Mount Weissenstein which had amazing views out over most of Switzerland across to the Alps. It was cold, windy and overcast but that didn't dampen our mountain trek and we did get to catch the view in between clouds before having hot chocolate at the cafe. I was still getting over the flu so was happy to have another nice meal and night in.

Wednesday could not have been nicer with a little early morning fog burning off to reveal blue skies, I saddled up with my MP3 player and headed for a wander through the city. It was a great day, nice to have some time to myself and to take

A busy intercity train line bridge with historically significant foundations. To rebuild it they built a temporary second bridge alongside then one night hydraulically pushed the new top across onto the old foundations!
in the scenery, the lake side is gorgeous. Later that afternoon I spent a few hours at an art museum with some excellent modern art and a few pieces from some of the greats, Monet, Picasso and Dali to name a few. That night I cooked for my gracious hosts (the least I could do) and had Annina's brother over too, there was talk of going to a bar but I was all tuckered out and ready for bed with an early flight to catch the next day.

Special thanks to Markus and Annina for having me, this brought my chistmas new years tour to close as I headed back to London to try setting up shop once again.
