Here I am by the beach where I spent plenty of time . . . posing as a typical tourist!
During February of 2002, when I was living in Spain I went to 1 of the 7 Canary Islands, Tenerife. The Canary Islands are a part of Spain and are located in the Atlantic Ocean, off of the African west coast. We went there for Mardi Gras. Most of the world knows the Mardi Gras celbration in Rio and New Orleans . . . but in Europe . . . it is well understood that the biggest party is in the Canary Islands. We were there for most of the celebration. They had daily parades and plenty of activities to do at night also. We stayed within walking distance of the ocean and swiming in the Atlantic was probably my favorite part. I was in the water by noon everyday and swam basicly all day. The beach where we stayed was in a perfect spot to get huge waves, especially in the evening. We also went to the sothern part of the island one day and took a small cruise and saw some dolfins.

Probably one of my favorite moments was when I was swiming and I kind of thought for a moment how random it was that on this Thursday in February here I was swiming in the Atlantic Ocean off of the coast of Africa.

This was a nice little park that we walked through on the way to the ocean.
