So my work needed an architectural model bought over to Abu Dhabi, and the cheapest way I found was for someone to fly over there! I joked with my boss and said that I would go and he said yes straight away, so that was that!!! So the flight, hotel and expenses were sorted!!!
So I get to Heathrow Airport really early and I go to check in and of course they are asking about the model and who packed it and I'm so worried because it had been packed already and to unpack it and pack it again would be a nightmare. Luckily for me, they let me take it on the plane, but then when I got on the plane, I had problems finding space to put the model because it was quite big! Again I got lucky because the air hostess let me put it in their cloakroom on the plane! Of course I was forever checking on it, but it was all good! Then the final stage was getting it through Abu Dhabi airport too!!! I was panicking a little because they actually wanted to open it up!!! Again, I got lucky because they couldn't find
anything to open it up so they just let me through!!!
So I take a taxi to my hotel I am staying at,
Le Meridien Hotel, which was so beautiful and I am so excited because when I walk into my room, the bed it absolutely massive (and heaven to sleep on)!!! After I settled, I went downstairs to the restaurant and I felt a little silly because everyone there were couples. Of course I got a stared at a little, but once I got eating I didn't care what people were doing!!! And the food was good!!! (and getting paid for!!!). After dinner I decided that I wasn't gonna waste anytime during the my stay there so I booked a jeep safari in the desert for the next day!!!
Next day, I had to meet the guy I was delivering the model too and I forgot his number at home (in London) and I had no idea what he looked like. So I had to call my sister at home to get the number and once I got it, it so happened that the person I was meeting happened to be sitting next to me the whole
time, but I had put the model next to the seat (hiding it from view) so the guy didn't know it was me!!!
So model gone and I had the whole morning and afternoon to kill but had to be back for the jeep safari for late afternoon! I took a taxi to the old town to see the markets then onto
Marina Mall to do a little shopping, or I should say, a lot because it was so cheap out there!!! I still had time to kill so I ended up going to the movies too and watched "The Terminal" which was pretty good and there were only about 8 people in the cinema.
So I get back to the hotel to get ready for the safari and get picked up from my hotel and the jeep has the driver, mohammed, and 5 italian men. They were all really nice and freindly. First off Mohammed did the desert driving which was so fun but after a while got a little sickly with all the ups and downs, then it was onto the camp to ride the camels. It was a lot of fun but it was also
a little scarey because it was so high up and very bumpy!!! After, we smoked a little shisha then it was onto the BBQ and dancing!!! The food was great and there was lots of it and the belly dancer was good too getting everyone to dance! The italians were loving it, especially when they were asked to dance!!! It was sad when it had to end because it was a great night!
When Mohammed drove us back from the desert, I had to go to the bank and Mohammed followed me and asked if he could go back to my room!!! Of course I said no but it got a little creepy when he walked into my hotel behind me, so I told the guy at the front desk to watch him!!! I went straight to my room, had a shower, packed and it was straight to the airport to catch my flight!!!
