I’ve been wanting to go to
Paphos since last summer so when Jill invited me to go to her wedding there, I couldn’t refuse!
When I got to
Paphos is was early evening but it was very humid! I hadn’t gone with anyone but I was meeting my new roommates at the hotel,
Paphos Garden Hotel & Apartments, which Jill’s sister arranged. There were 3 of Jill’s friends who were also attending the wedding! They were all great and all very different so it was a good bunch! The best person I met that night was baby Josh, Jill’s nephew who was the cutest!!! If he was around, forget about getting my attention!!! I was constantly taking photos of him and he was loving it!!!
So the first day we all hung out around the pool to do a bit of sunbathing and of course I was with Josh! Jill came around in the afternoon and she told me the best news which was she was pregnant! I was so happy for her and Eric! They will make such great parents! We all had dinner that night near
Paphos harbor which was fantastic!!! I took a long walk with
Josh and he was loving the attention he was getting from strangers!!!
Second day was a day trip for all people attending the wedding to go to
Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark. I must have eaten something rotten the night before because I was sick for most of the morning, so whilst everyone was enjoying the waterpark, I was sitting in the shade with Jill so we got to catch up properly!!! Oh, and I got to babysit Josh when everyone was on the lazy river!!! After the park, we all went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. This time round Eric’s side were coming to the dinner also. Eric’s parents, Eric’s bestman & friends. There was a lot of eating, drinking, dancing and most importantly laughing!!! Oh, and Eric got thrown into the swimming pool!!! GREAT night!!!
Third day was onto the beach!!! The girls went first joined by the rest of the crowd and Josh. After a bit of sunbathing, went jet skiing with the boys which was so much fun!!! At one point I almost came off my jet ski because I stupidly rode towards a wave, but it was a great exciting experience!!!
Next I went to Jill’s Hotel, 5 star
Elysium (where the wedding was going to be held). It was absolutely beautiful!!! We were there to sort out Jill’s dress and for me to give her a manicure. It took 4 of us to hold her dress whilst the other was doing the ironing. It was quite a scene. We were all on a deadline though, because that evening the girls attending the wedding were meeting up for a drink at
The Elysium for Jill’s last single night!!! It finished pretty early because we all had to get our beauty sleep for Jill & Eric’s wedding the next day!!!
So day four and wedding day was here!!! Four girls, one bathroom!!!! Not good!!! We were all trying to get ready in time to meet at reception and then get cabs to the hotel!!! Luckily everything was okay and we were all on time!!! When we got to the hotel, I was so happy to see Jacquie and Andrew (who I also work with). When Jill came out, she looked absolutely stunning!!! At one point the wedding had to stop because Jill had problems breathing, but after a while she was
good to go. The hotel had bought in a big fan because it was baking inside the tiny chapel but it was making so much noise!!! When the ceremony was over it was picture time (my favorite time) and
The Elysium was a great hotel to take photos in. Then onto the reception in the hotel!!! The food was great; the speeches were funny and dancing fun!!! So all in all the wedding was a complete success!!
So the next few days we had no wedding activities left so I decided to check out
Paphos!!! The first thing I did was go horse riding around the
coral bay area! It was my first time to horse ride so I was very nervous!!! Once I was on it, it was very high up and I was scared the horse would start galloping but it al wentl well!!! I was happy to know the guide was guiding my horse, especially when we were riding up and down hillsides!!!
Next day was on a Jeep Safari around the
Troodos Mountains which was beautiful and peaceful and then onto visit the
Kykos Monastery which is renowned throughout the Greek Orthodox Church for
its icon of the Virgin Mary. It is customary to have your shoulders and knees covered for such visits, so luckily for me I bought a cardigan and sarong to cover up!!! Lastly it was onto the
Aphrodite's rock. Stunning views and the group all had fun together!!!
On the last day I went to visit the
Tombs of the Kings which was right next to the Elysium Hotel!!! So much history and peace there!!! It was sad to leave
Paphos that day, but maybe one day I will be back again!!!
