Flew back from Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to Bangkok on the 21st December. Booked into hotel in
Khoa San Road (one of the few with a pool - Nice).
Met up with Liz just before Xmas and we headed to
Ko Samet just outside Bangkok for a lovely Xmas by the sea. Was a really lovely experience spending Xmas sunbathing and swimming, but somehow (even with the local restaurants playing jingle bells), just didn't really feel like Christmas- Still happy give up an Xmas if it means that I also give up a UK winter anyday!
Went back to Bangkok on the 27th as Liz had to be back in Hong Kong, and went back to spend a few more days in Khoa San Road. Made a trip to the
Grand Palace and the
Reclining Budha at Watpho that i had visited 6 years previous on my first visit to Bangkok, still as sparkling and spectacular as I remember.
Missing live football at home, went to watch Thailand national side take on the footballing giants Kazakstan infront of a croud of only about 10,000, at least they won! Even went to the driving range with Piti, good to
see I hadn't lost my touch and scuffed plenty of the balls just a few metre!
On
New Years eve planned to go out with Jan into centre of Bangkok to a few nighclubs, but at about 7pm about 8 small bombs were set off around the city. Not one to be put off going out, we made are way out for a really good night out in a local Thai nightclub - the highlight being a famous Thai Actor/singer performing on stage at midnight, sing loads of popular Thai songs - great, lol!!

Yes Mark I agree with you, X-mas in Thailand is not same as in Europe but enjoyed it anyway.
