My home is Australia. We are a land bound by sea. Though I may travel far across the ocean. It will never forget me.

Christina Anu excerpt from "My Island Home"

Our month long trip to Australia was all about our friends and family! We had an amazing trip from beginning to end - the photos below tell most of the story.

Upon arrival and a quick stay at Sal's in Coogee, we set off for my hometown of Berridale almost immediately for our snowy mountain wedding celebration hosted by Mum and Dad, catered by Liz and Mum and attended by all the Berridalians! An amazing afternoon surrounded by dear friends, kangaroos and finished off with delectable wedding cake (thank you Liz!).

The meteorologists were confused that we were not in Sun Valley, Idaho for a white winter Christmas and so sent out the frosty winds to find us in Berridale. We rugged up for a cold summer Christmas in front of the fire and had a fabulous day opening presents, swilling champagne at the Baillie's, riding motorcycles and four-wheelers and eating Mum's amazing Christmas feast! It actually snowed a bit at the Baillie's Christmas morning in the middle of summer!! Lucas was quite confused.

Back in Sydney we had an incredible time staying with Claire and Kiernan and Alex (thank you!!!). NYE was a 7-course culinary degustation at Claire and Kiernan's with Pip, Jess, Craig, Lucas and I. It was a miracle we made it by foot to the viewing spot to watch the spectacular fireworks on Sydney Harbour to see in 2007 (as each course was paired with lots of wine). A fun fun NYE! And thanks Alex for my first surf lesson - not sure if the teacher or the student was at fault here: JacquiSurfLesson

After a wonderful final dinner at Paul & Pam's we left Sydney and spent a relaxing 3 days in Coffs Harbour visiting Grandpa Ron and Aunty Grace and body surfing at the beach. Thank you mom & dad for Anukka Beach Resort!! It was great for Lucas to finally meet Grandpa Ron and hear his amazing WWII stories (see link below). Both Ron and Grace are in great spirits and great health.

We departed Australia from Byron Bay after a few days of R&R (its always nice to have a vacation from your vacation).

Lucas' Aussie Highlights:

Uniting/re-uniting with all the old and new Aussie friends & family

Eating the incredible cooking of Claire Hughes and Jill Burridge (plus deluxe accommodations)

Berridale: Dennis & Jill's amazing house, kangaroos, country parties on 10,000 acre+ estates, Claire Hughes' Taboo definition for 'vibrate', Stuart's motorcyle.

Harbord (Manly) Sydney - Alex lives in paradise - great beach and ocean-side saltwater lap pool

Bodysurfing on Watego's beach (Byron Bay)

Making friends with Jordie and discovering WOLFMOTHER (thanks Paul & Kristi!)
