4 day 4wd ride

At this camp someone stole our gas bottle... so we ask for the permission to go old-school.
Hi mates (Australian for Hi my friends)
I am back from a 4 day trip trough the Outback. First of all it was amazing to see the desert and its wildlife. The first night I slept in a tent but on the other two I stayed outside in a swag. A sort of one-person tent or lets say a big sleeping bag around your own.

So lets start in Alice, cause that's where I started and where I am now. It surprised me, but in the middle of the desert it rained on my arrival. Usually you would think its a bad thing, but here its a blessing. Just two days before my arrival it happened to be 45 to 50 degree Celsius. Huh... So I was very happy with the weather.

Early in the morning the 4WD truck arrived and I was friendly invited to hop on. Let the Adventure begin...

First stop Uluru (Ayers Rock): I didn't climb it to respect the Aboriginals culture, but the 10km base walk around was still great. I had to get used to the early get ups, because for the sunrise picture we had to get up at 3.45... gee

I visited the reptile center in Alice Springs.
I was happy no to be the driver. Rachel, our guide did a great job.

Afterwards Kata Tjuta (Olgas): Another rock formation close to Uluru.

Kings Canyon: Here we hiked quite long, but again we were very lucky to have a cloudy sky. So the proposed average water consumption of one liter per hour was not necessary.

We drove on the Mereenie Loop Track: Its a f**king bumpy dirt road. Lets describe it this way: Imagine an airplane is landing quite rough, but constantly for 200km. LOL.. :-)

We also went pass Goss Bluff and Glen Helen.

Just on the last day we did an extreme off road 4wd ride along the Finke River into Palm valley. Its the home of one the rares trees on earth, Livistonia Mariae.

I don't want to advertise the tour, but it was really cool and worth the money. It was the 4 day trip with 'adventure tours'.

Stefan, Just returned after my world trip back to Köln. Seeing all those fantstic fotos of yours made me to the Adventure trip again. Specially Orniston Gorge (wallaby land) and Kings Canyon will stand out as one of the highlightsof my Down Under trip. Enjoy the rest of your adventures. Otilia
