This is the start of our 180 mile Pembrokeshire, Coastal Path walk. It promises lots of elevation gain - close to 34,000 feet.

We are five strong, the trip setup by Jo Finestead of Sun City Anthem in Henderson, NV, who made her first long walk on the Wainwright Coast to Coast walk across England in 2012 and has going this mode of adventure in her blood. Gary and Deb Fackett who were also on that Coast to Coast walk are part of our group. And, my cousin, Chuck Wilson, who I exposed to long distance walking in 2019 when he organized his own Coast to Coast walk.

On Monday, 10 July, after getting a steroid shot in my right knee from my orthopedist I went to the airport for flights from SAT to DFW and then on to LHR.

Cousin Chuck Wilson was to meet me at DFW but he was on AA 80 which left an hour and a half earlier.

The 777 for AA78 is nicely laid out. Sheri the flight attendant just walked me thru the bells and whistles of 7A. Seat, which fully reclined. After a too big dinner which I finished at the late hour of 2355, I walked the aisles and went to sleep for almost five of the eight hours of the flight.

Arrival at Heathrow was smooth, Chuck was waiting so we checked out the rail station and waited for the other three coming from Las Vegas.

Using our senior railpass discounts we caught the express to Paddington station and then the Great Western railway to Cardiff. It was a very full train. Arrived about 1830 and walked the 0.6 miles to the premier inn for the evening.

Back out to the Town center which has extensive lovely pedestrian streets, we had dinner near the central market of pizza n salads.

More on Cardiff tomorrow.
