We flew from Chiang Mai to Kuala Lumpur on an afternoon Air Asia flight. Air Asia flies into its own terminal, LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal- no kidding). The customs/immigration line was ridiculous. There were no lines forming just a mass of people that kept squeezing here and there hoping to get a better position. The line went amazing slow. One woman explained that there are very strict with Indonesian people and a plane just landed from there. They require them to show a certain amount of money, so they are not just entering to stay and use the Malaysia social resources. We finally made it through and collected our luggage. We headed to the shuttle bus that takes you to downtown Kuala Lumpur, where we will get a taxi to our hotel. We stayed in the area they call the Golden Triangle, it is basically where the nice hotels and shopping areas are.
Each afternoon we have been in KL there has been a heavy rain with a little lightening. One taxi driver said it was usual. We did not make it up to the observation deck of the Petronas Twin Towers, as all tickets for the day were sold out. We may try when we fly back through after our stay in Indonesia. KL is a modern city with a very diverse mixture of people. They have people from China, Thailand, India, Indonesia, and a few European/Westerners. Many women are fully covered head to ankle. I have not worn short or tank tops out of respect, even though we have seen many tourists doing so.
We have basically just taken it easy for a few days. Window shopping, eating and sleeping. We are flying out before the crack of dawn tomorrow (12/2) for Bali via Jakarta.

yes...when I looked at them all I could think of was Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones outside the obseration tower.....what Hollywood does to our minds. We should be marveling at an architectural wonder of 101 stories.
