Edit Blog Post
When I started writing this blog we were still in Denmark and were in the South of Fyn near to Svenborg and once again a really nice site. We rocked up once again unannounced and found a great pitch. Everyone is so nice around here. We have done a bit of a silly thing as we have gone back on ourselves but do you know what, does it really matter, apart from the price of fuel being so much.
Fyn is supposed to have the best weather in Denmark and to be honest it is really nice, sunny and warm. I still do not think it is going to be warm enough though to go paddle boarding - think this is going to have to wait until we get to the Caribbean again - not taking the motorhome there though to be sure.
Now for a bit of news about Fyn. It is a geopark - so what is a geopark? It’s a region in which the unique geological features of the landscape have a significant impact on life in the region - now you know I have just copied this from a book, ha ha.
We are
getting a boat into Svenborg as we are on the other side of the lake. I am not happy yet to cycle which is really stupid as over here they are so set up for cyclists, However, are they set up for Paula on a cycle, I am not quite sure yet.
Denmark has large celebrations at the weekend it appears and we will miss it which is a bit of a pain - however, they have started getting ready for the celebrations with large puppets I am not quite sure of the significance of them but they are amazing.
I think Mike is getting a bit scared about not having places booked to stay as he is now starting to look to book another site for our next onward journey.
We then moved into Germany and found a Stellplatze near Lubeck: again we have gone back on ourselves but hey ho you only live once. When we rocked up to the Stellplatze I thought no way am I staying here as it looked like a disused car park with a couple of motorhomes in - but then had another look at it and it was not
that bad to be honest. It had a bowling alley, mini golf, restaurant and all the amenities and for one night it was not too bad. We walked into Lubeck which is such a charming town and, you guessed it, stopped in a cafe for a drink. The waiter must have been watching Fawlty towers and modelled himself on John Cleese’s character - when he took our order for a couple of drinks he looked like we had stuck a knife into him - then when we ordered another well you should have seen his face. The best bit was when two couples left without ordering he had the look of indignation - but what do you do when the waiter takes so long to take your order?
So back to the campsite we went for the evening ready for our next day’s travel to Bremen, again without booking. Mike was a little worried as it is Friday and thought we might not get in - but again plenty of spaces. We are going into Bremen tomorrow as we met a couple we have seen before in Hillerod and they say it is beautiful - so will keep you posted on how this pans out.
