I learned late in the day yesterday that today is a National Holiday. So RWO is closed and our classes are canceled since the women would likely not attend anyways. Today is NRM Liberation Day. It is a national holiday in Uganda observed on January 26th each year. The Battle of Kampala was a battle of the Ugandan Bush War that took place Jan 17th – 26th1986. The National Resistance Army attacked and captured the Ugandan Capital of Kampala from the Ugandan National Liberation Army. As a result, the Ugandan government was deposed and replaced by a new one under the current President: Yoweri Museveni.

The ladies slept in a bit so I sat outside and caught up on work from home. Then we had breakfast in Entebbe with a few of their friends overlooking the UN airport where they were doing some test runs. One of the friends works for the UN and does rescue missions to Congo and South Sudan. Very interesting stories about at least what could be shared.

In the afternoon Irene prepared the pork that she had been marinating for two days. I have to say it is the best pork ribs I have ever had. She has now ruined ribs for me at home now ?

In the evening we ventured out for my first dancing experience in Entebbe now that they are allowed to be open past 8pm. The DJs played a combination of American rap and local music from Nigeria and Uganda. As the only muzungu there, I had a whole group of ladies join me to teach me some of their moves. We finished the evening with street from: pork sausages and cow’s hoof stew (Molokony)

Side note: I have observed that the universal act of chivalry here is not opening a door for a women, it is offering to remove the seal on the plastic water bottles. Haha. They are on so tight and with no perforation for easy removal. I’ll gladly open my own doors and take the offer of getting the pesky seal off.

Rib Debate
If had to pick just one it would be Irene's ribs, but I have to make due with Phil's ribs on my return
