Arrived in lovely Porto on Friday morning and enjoyed 2 days of wandering the city. Beautiful blue sky day.

We stayed at a small 7 room guest house, Cale guest house, in a great central location. Sitting there the first morning eating breakfast, listening to the languages of our fellow travelers - French. Spanish, Dutch. And then we see thru the glass door. the occasional peregrino walks by. I do feel like this could be a scene out of The Way!! And I love it!!

We have been watching the weather. And by last night, the rain begins. In the middle of the night it rains hard. Neither of us sleep well, wondering what this next adventure will hold... while awake, I think about the weight of my pack. And by morning, my lovely small traveller's pillow doesn't make the cut. Nor my favorite flannel shirt and about 4 other items. My camera stays. And I think I am down to @ 12 lbs. Much better.

By morning. It is overcast. And within the next hour it mists, for most of the walk. But it is a warm mist, so actually very comfortable temp.

For our first day we have chosen a very light day, as suggested by just about every article. Only 12 kilometers. So we arrive at our very nice guest house by noon in Matosinhos.

Being Sunday, it is an early dinner of a delicious seafood and rice dish with a delicious sauce and a glass of the very good house wine. Even with the rain, it has been a very enjoyable start. Tomorrow we will up the distance to 20 km.

Hi Ed and Michelle: Glad you were able to get the replacement passport and hit the road. Sounds like a great adventure and will look for future blogs. I head to Hawaii Friday which will be a big deal for me my first flight since 2017. Have fun and enjoy the vistas and the wine. GW
