A pox on Covid 19 - there you I have said it . A pox on Covid 19. I have wanted to say that for a few months now and now it is said . Makes me feel better - yes it does . Today Day 83. " Flow with whatever happens , stay centred on accepting whatever you are doing " so said Zhuangzi . So here goes again - A pox on Covid 19.
A pox for starting in the first place . A pox on it for stopping life in its tracks . Trying to flow with whatever happens is Ok for a while but eventually you get fed up with the flow and want and need something different. A challenge in your life . A pox on Covid for preventing movement . No holidays , queuing at the shops, shortages , listening to Boris and his ministers . A pox on it for disrupting transport , construction, putting workers on furlough. Not knowing if they have a job to go back to. A pox on it for taking us back into recession . After years of austerity paying for the bankers we are back at square
one again . A pox . A pox and another pox .
The weather -A pox on the weather . Spring started well . Hot and sunny. We sat in the garden . We enjoyed every minute of it . Then it changed and for the last few weeks nothing but dull days . Rain in bucketloads and cold . Unseasonable . I could blame the poor weather on Covid 19. The good weather made staying in more pleasant . The poorer weather has had the opposite effect . As I looked out the window this morning it was more of the same. More of the same lead grey sky. Clouds grey too. The effect was enough to send me back to bed for the day. But if I did that then the day would be wasted . It would be a walk once I decided what I needed to wear.
The walk - For a motorhomer the urge is to keep travelling. To drive down a road you have never been done before . To see a different view from the window every day. A pox on Covid 19 for stopping us in our tracks . The
only choice for the walk was the same as yesterday . Do I go left up the hill or right downhill? Downhill then - easier on the toes . All this walking has made my little toe sore . I walk oddly and wear out the left side of the left shoe meaning my toes hit the side of my shoes . I need a chiropodist . A pox on Covid 19 for shutting Chiropodists. I am on my chiropodists list for a space when she gets one . How long is a piece of string I wonder ? We are heading off for the fields between home and Tupton . The farmer has started to get his silaging under his belt . The field is half cut . The rain has stopped him in his tracks . I see not a soul as I walk alone along the path that skirts the trees. When I started walking there seemed many others joining me . Today no-one . Not even when I climbed down the steps to Martins Lane where normally I see the young girls working at the stables . The horses and ponies are there and there is even a sign that we can feed them treats in moderation . Eventually I get home . A walk seeing no-one and walking in a sea of green. It is that time of summer when the flowers have gone over and we wait for the late summer ones to appear .
The rest of the day - A trip to Alfreton to the bank . It felt a relief to get in the car and drive . Not far but out of our immediate area . Shirland full of scarecrows . It seemed that the whole village had got together to produce one. A scarecrow made up to be a policeman with a speed camera pointing at us . . A pearly Queen and King hanging on the school fence . Someone had spent time sewing pearly buttons on black outfits . In the distance an old man with his hat on. Sitting on a chair outside his house watching the world go by . Another scarecrow. They made us smile .
Then it was home - another day gone - the end of Week 12 . Week 13 just round the corner . A pox on Covid 19 .
