merida is the capital city of the yucatan, it is a beautiful colonial city.
last night i went dancing in the streets there was live music everywhere. during my evening i ended up befriending a rastafarian mexican, cool kid. this morning after enjoyning my continental breakfast of toast and coffee at my hostel, i went and met my new friend at the plaza grande. basicaly the city center where there are permanent venders and people everywhere. from there we took a bus out of the city to a little town called tixkokob. it is known for all the hammacas that are made there. so we ventured into town and met a resedent that took us home with him and i got to learn the basics of making a yucatan hammock and had the opportunity weave a little myself. then i picked a hammock and watched him finish it right in front of me, mucha bonita...oh ya and did i mention that i can speak more spanish than my friend can speak english. very cool. it worked out very well dealing with the locals and it was a great challenge..bueno.
so i bought a boleto to san cristobal in chiapis state for 7pm tonight. it is a 13 hour drive, so it is good that i will be doing it at night. i arrive there tomorrow morning at about 8am great time to enter a new place. i have heard that san cristobal has mega amounts of amber so i am excited. as well there are soposed to be epic waterfalls close and paleque is close, ya jungle. i look forward to hearing from ya' all..ok!!

Steam Baths
Dove, make sure you try the steam baths in San Cristobal de Las Casas!! At Palenque, try to find and swim in the Queen's bath and climb as many pyramids as you can :). Happy for you it all sounds wonderful! And Marley says hi.
