Uig Bay and Loch Snizort
We stopped for breakfast at Isle of Skye Baking Company, which had beautiful baked goods including a selection of gluten free. I had a wonderful breakfast of a gluten-free bacon and onion quiche and some toasted gluten free bread with butter and strawberry jam. When we left there, I carried with me the rest of that loaf of bread and two gluten free brownies.

From there we drove to Idrigill where we stopped to take some pictures, then on to the fairy glens. The hillsides there were almost corrugated and it was fairy-like. Sara and Helen climbed a couple of the hills, while Faye and I stood in the drizzle and watched. It was charming, rain or no, with sheep grazing around us.

We then took a narrow track to Quiraing, which is a ridge in the Trotternish mountains formed by a massive landslip. It has high cliffs, plateaus and rock pinnacles and looks like it is covered in velvet. It was absolutely beautiful even in the rain, but when the rain stopped and the sun came out, it was the most beautiful place I have ever been. I could pitch a tent and live

there.

But, we tore ourselves away and drove on. We stopped at Kilt Rock for pictures and looked out across the Sound of Raasay. Then we drove south past the rock formations known as the Storr and saw the Old Man of Storr wreathed in clouds. From Portree we drove west across the island to Dunvegan to Dunvegan Castle and its beautiful gardens, before returning to our place in Portree.
