It all began this morning at 9:00 AM. We were pleased that you all showed up on time. Boarding seemed to go easy for everyone. Of course, it would: Lulu was in charge. As Driver Cory rolled our moving home down and out of our new gravel driveway, I pressed my face to the window to say one final goodbye to our dear old homestead. Once past, the window looked like we had gone through a carwash - soaked with tears. I know Cory felt the same way. Lulu was thrashing back & forth while wailing. Memories....we do have so many from our home in Shongo, NY. I know it’s new family will love this old house as much as we did. They’ll make memories, too. Our house will serve them well and protect all those inside it. It did for us.
And here we are.....sailing along with excitement and exhilaration. Lulu was humming a happy tune. A beautiful, gorgeous Autumn day. The sun was shining and the leaves were glowing in their new colors. Everything seemed right in the world.....except for no WiFi. I’m in withdrawal! Whoa, there, girlie....not so fast. A snag has turned our smiles upside down
into frowns! You have to be kidding! The buzzer lights on the dash are going off. Oh, puke! They say “low coolant level” & “check engine” followed by “STOP”! Cory pulled to the narrow shoulder off the highway. He turned off the engine and we sat for awhile. Our temperature gauge stayed normal the whole time. The trouble lights weren’t on anymore so he started driving again. About ten miles down the highway, the bells and whistles started blaring again. Shoot! Back to the highway shoulder. Cory checked the coolant and it was down some so we added more into the holding vessel. Looking around underneath the RV, I noted that the backside of our splash guard looked wet. Another metal tank under there looked similar. Not good. We traveled further down the highway and got off at an exit advertising RV repair. Entered into an auto/truck repair business. They said the RV service place was out of business. And they couldn’t help us. Nice! Cory had to unhook our car to turn our RV around cause we were locked into their driveway. In between all this, we had called Tiffin (maker of our RV in Red Bay, Alabama). No
help. I put our dilemma on our Tiffin Motorhome Group App on Facebook. Received suggestions. We called several places kind of in the area but none could take us. Rats! Finally, we found Ecks Garage in Muncy, PA. They worked on freightliner and Cummins and they could help us. Hurray. We put in more coolant for the return trip back to and pass the out of business RV repair shop. Dejavu. Why the auto repair shop didn’t tell us about this place....don’t know. Anyway, we eventually arrived at our destination. The servicemen came right out and checked for our problem right in their parking lot. They removed part of our bedroom floor to get to and see what and where our problem was. Right off they found it. It was a rusted and broken “ellis” (sp) clamp on our radiator coolant hose that went to the engine and back. They replaced the clamp and fixed the hose. They were very nice, very quick and very competent. And very, very reasonable with their price. Of course, Lady Lulu got their attention and made her way into their hearts. She can be a trollop at times just to get things her way.
We still love her. Slut!
We left Eck’s garage @ 4:45 pm. Headed back down the same road to the same Walmart we originally parked our RV when trying to figure out our next plan. That’s our life now. We are thrown lemons and we have to figure out how to turn them into lemonade. You just do what you have to do and move on. We are a little ticked off because we did have this coolant system checked both at Red Bay and our local service place. No looking back....just ahead cause that’s direction we are moving in.
We are staying in the Walmart parking lot for the night. Ate supper at a nearby Applebee’s. First ordered a drink cause we needed one. Cory’s drink came in a glass big as a fish bowl. He’s happy and calm now.
Time to close now. I bet you are applauding because this blog is not like yesterday’s mega novel.
Hopefully, our journey proceeds onward without any more snags. We appreciated all your support as we confronted this latest twist in our new adventure. So glad you are with us. Get some rest.
See you soon.
