Not quite go. But pretty close.
Best read to ‘Waltzing Matilda’ but somewhat embarrassing if you do if there are others around. But then again reading my blog qualifies as embarrassing even if no one’s around.
Once an old teacher and his little sister
Headed off to England to walk day after day
We’ll trudge and we’ll tramp and walk and walk
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
Ahead lay hill, dale, cairn and tarn
Each day a labour and certainly no play
But over, around, to and through we go
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
Starting at Edale and heading towards the north
Through the peaks of Yorkshire hey, hey, hey
What? Nothing compared with the TMB
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
Traversing the peat and bogs of the Pennines
We’ve got some great places to stay
Comfy beds and English breakfasts
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
Walking in the English Autumn
Means the skies are cloudy and grey
But equipped with my trusty boots and red coat
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
We head to Hadrian’s Wall and Vindolanda
Where the Romans used to play
Once Brewed and Twice Brewed a couple of favs
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
A couple of 35km days in Scotland
Julie will enjoy those, well, she may
Over the beautiful heather and among the grouse
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
From pub to pub, an ale here, a cider there
Just a pity we have to pay
A drink, a meal, a tale or two
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
And then at the end to Edinburgh we go
To see Lee. Hooray, hooray.
But first a heap of experiences and fun
We’ll go a walking the Pennine Way.
Then several weeks after the start
Hopefully we’ll be able to say
These two ageing Aussies
Have walked the Pennine Way.
Congrats if you’ve managed to get this far. Sort of my first test for any readers.
It’s my intention to blog each day or most days during my walk. Usually internet connections are good but some locations seem rather remote (by UK standards) so availability may dictate the frequency of blogs. Any I miss I’ll use that excuse, even though the truth may have more to do with ale and/or cider!
I leave tomorrow, so until then.
Ciao for now.
