DAY 22
27/05/2019
Poolside

We started the day with coffee and croissants again. Karly had woken up early to go down and reserve our pool lounges for the day. Breakfast again was at the beach buffet as it had amazing views out into the Atlantic Ocean. It is so good being at the resort as you do not have to worry about what you wear as you get up and put our bathers on and stay like that all day until dinner. We decided that we needed to put our feet into the Atlantic Ocean so we ventured into the man made beach. Next stop for the day was poolside. Pina Coladas for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea is my idea of a relaxing holiday. We were lucky enough to get 4 lounge chairs in the shade although it came with a catch. We had a large American family group from who was very loud and made it their point to congregate at the foot of out chairs. We found another section of the pool in the shade to play ball and to sip our drinks. We are on holidays and nothing was going to dampen it. We booked out tickets for tomorrow to go to Xcaret by Mexico which shares a boundary with the resort. It is an adventure park with all amazing things to see and do. Dinner was at the Buffet and the menu was Mexican. I am really enjoying the Mexican food here. We noticed that people at another table were having a special coffee made for them by their table. It was a Mayan coffee. The waiter made a sugar rim on the glass mug and then placed some liqueur in the bottom, then added coffee. Two gravy boats with a mix of Kahlua and another spirit were used over a small candle which was used that to ignite the alcohol. The waiter poured the flaming liquid from one boat to another and each time the flames became larger. The flaming liquid was then poured into the coffee and finished off with whipped cream. It was similar to an Irish coffee. We decided that we were going to have one. Oh it was so delicious. We watched Michael Jackson show from the veranda and had a few more drinks before heading off to bed.

Yum!
That Mexican coffee sounds delish BUT does pouring the flaming alcohol between the gravy boats burn all the alcohol off?? I’m sure they still tasted great even if there wasn’t much alcohol left. Mexican coffee is my favourite liqueur coffee. And ... on those falcons at the breakfast buffet ... I hope no small birds ventured into ‘the zone’ while you were at breakfast? A falcon taking down a bird in the vicinity of breakfast could be a bit gruesome. We once saw a seagull feasting on a pigeon in St Mark’s Square in Venice. I know it’s the food chain at work, but it is a bit off putting!!
